I've always wanted to visit NK.

I don't think you want to.   there's a NATGEO doc on it that you get on netflix on demand.  Scary place.  Very scary.

I've seen the vice guide to north korea but will look up the natgeo one.

Scary but so fascinating.  Mostly because what we know is so little and it's just so strange to see the infrastructure and no one using it.
Abandon every hope...

It's creepy.  They were able to film in NK because of an aid program that sent a western doctor into NK to do cataract surgeries.  His plan was to do hundreds in a period of days.  While they were there they got permission to go to a resident of one of the people who was getting the surgery done.  When asked why the lady was getting the surgery done  she replied:  I want to be able to see the great leader and thank him.  When she said that the "minders" (government chaperons) started to cry and soon after the whole family was crying.

Also they interviewed, in SK, a former political prisoner camp guard who was a guard a 50,000 inmate family prison where they  imprison the families of politician prisoners.  There's 25+ camps like this around the country.

Also the average height of a 7 year old boy is 8 inches shorter and 20 pounds less than the average 7 year old boy in SK.

If there was ever a good reason for us to fight for democracy and freedom, NK is it.

Interesting stuff.  I love talking to Korean War vets.  The forgotten war.

Very sad.  Generations of NK's have been brainwashed/beaten down into submission.

Yeah, maybe somebody who's more knowledgeable heard this too ( I can only remember bits in passing), but the average age was very young and most of the youngsters were disillusioned from all the propaganda thinking Great Leader and Dear Leader were best things ever to walk the earth.  Fucking nuts.

Good riddance Dear Leader.
