Dumped Wiggle Sam Moran 'led lonely life'
« on: January 21, 2012, 10:40:20 PM »
DEPOSED Sam Moran led a "lonely life'' as a yellow Wiggle, with accusations that Anthony Field refused to talk to him off-stage for two years.

"Anthony didn't speak to him for two years unless they had to communicate as part of being on stage,'' a close source said.

"Sam is such a genuine guy. The way he was treated was appalling. There was a toxic atmosphere because it was obvious he was being deliberately ostracised.

"The other members really felt like they had to follow suit because one of them was such a dominant personality.''
Moran's axing - he was replaced by original member Greg Page - triggered protests from fans.

Rob Miles, who worked with the group for 14 years as a production manager, said: "I'm sad to see Sam has been dealt a familiar hand that many of us have been dealt.''

But Paul Field, manager of The Wiggles, responded to the allegations by saying that Anthony was a ``private person'' and during his time off between shows the group did not socialise, spending time with their families.

He added employees were often hired for live shows only: "Over the years, employees have certainly come and gone, but all for valid reasons between The Wiggles and themselves.

"If someone still feels disgruntled that they lost a job years ago, then that's very unfortunate.''

Miles added: "There's more to The Wiggles story than many people realise.

"To step into Greg's shoes was a huge job. He (Sam) carried that group through the past five years, professionally, with integrity and with respect.

"It's a pity he didn't receive the same in his dismissal.''

According to reports he had no warning he was about to lose his job.

Some who used to work with The Wiggles said it came as no surprise and the way he was "got rid of'' was nothing new.

A former employee said: "This is the first time they have done this to someone so publicly involved in the group.

"This is how they treat people who show them loyalty and hard work.''

I sat through several "Wiggles" programs with the kids over the years.  I had no idea the yellow one was so sad.   ::)

Nah, you're confusing it with the "Niggles", the BET spin off show they're setting up for the urban market.

Nobody is black?

I refuse to believe this is about Wiggles.

Although, im not so sure Sam Moran led a lonely life compared to this Anthony-character

Sam Moran livin' the life. he married Dorothy the Dinosaur

Anthony Field went public about his experience with clinical depression in mid-2007 to draw more attention to the condition.
He has stated that "being on the road is a dangerous job for someone with depression,"

I kid you not.

Mothballed Yellow Wiggle Sam Moran remains tight-lipped about his demise, but has words of encouragement for his saddened fans.

As debate raged over the wrongs and rights of original Yellow Wiggle Greg Page's return to the group, Moran posted a video message telling fans he intended to return as an entertainer.

"I'll miss seeing your smiling faces from the stage but I'm sure you'll see me singing, dancing and entertaining you in another way, shape and form," Moran said.

"So until you see me again, until I see you again, keeping on wiggling."

Fans took to Facebook to criticise The Wiggles' handling of Page reclaiming his yellow jersey five years after retiring due to ill health.

The Wiggles claim Moran simply outran his contract, receiving a severance package believed to be around $60,000 and the promise of studio time for any future projects.

But angry fans have accused Anthony Field of showing a lack of respect for Moran in an interview on Nine's Today show.

The Blue Wiggle revealed he hadn't spoken with his former work colleague, saying: "Sam was doing a job."

The comments led to some fans branding Field 'the black Wiggle' and a 'cockroach' in reference to his pre-Wiggles pop band.

The group's manager Paul Field described the interview as not "a good moment" but explained that none of The Wiggles - also including Jeff Fatt and Murray Cook - were involved in negotiations with Moran, according to reports in News Ltd newspapers.

Field, Fatt and Cook each own 30 per cent shares in Wiggles Inc and employed Moran on a salary during his 10-year career.

Moran, 33, is said to be considering his next career move while spending time with his daughter Eloise and wife Lyn, another former member of The Wiggles family who once played Dorothy The Dinosaur.

Moran is declining requests to talk to the media, according to his management company.

He shouldn't complain too much they made him get into shape he used to be a fat bastard.

I think his wife actually played Henry the octopus. Which makes it even weirder.
