Are you sure something hasn't changed in your filing status. There has not been a tax increase. I also use Turbo Tax and have already done a preliminary return. I am not paying any more than I did last year. Being retired my income and deductions are relatively unchanging from one year to the next.

What did you do for a living Prime?

Dude, it took you this long to figure out he is an out and out Socialist. Fairness is not giving others people money away to care for perfectly healthy individuals who refuse to work. I think that Newt has it right that anyone who collects unemployment should be mandated to go to the government office every week to show what jobs they have applied for. It is a travesty that people are more interested in getting disability than getting a job. If Obama, lord help us, wins then count on taxes to go up for everyone. His government programs are out of control. In four years he added over 5 trillion to the deficit. Wait till Obamacare kicks in. A hint for you guys, the insurance is essentially Medicaid and not worth the paper it is written on. Physicians hate it and I suspect a lot of physicians are going to just quit medicine than stay in this line of work. Soon, he will raise taxes on the "rich" but when that doesn't cover his expenses he will kick it up a notch by taxing the middle class with some surtax on gas or unclean energy. Just wait, the country will go to shit on a handbasket if he wins.

Not to shit on your parade or anything, but the Republicans are not exactly offering any good alternatives.  The idiot that responded to Obama's State of the Union speech talked about the late Steve Jobs and stated that he created jobs.....this is true, but the jobs are not created here.  They are created in China,  where human rights are trampled on and factories belch out black smoke night and day, poisoning the environment. Apple employs barely 40k+ in the US, in spite of being arguably the most successful US corporation at the moment.

This is what the Repubs want.....less taxes and less regulations so the super wealthy and corporations can continue to ship jobs overseas.  These companies are not in the business of providing Americans with jobs...if it was, they wouldn't be in business.  Steve Jobs even said it wasn't Apple's mission to provide American jobs...it was to provide people with the latest greatest Ipods and Ipads at the most cost-efficient manner...and that manner is by subjegating the Chinese to brutal work conditions at extremely low pay to churn out slave-made junk so fat stupid Americans can get this unneeded shit at the soulless gray big box store.

Less of his money, not someone else's.

That's the trick, isn't it?  It's not his money.  It's tax.  Just ask the IRS.  It belongs to the contry in which he has chosen to live.  Whether it's being well spent, where it's coming from, etc, are issues open for debate, but it's not his money.

You can't swing a dead cat without hitting an armchair capitalist who works for others who retain 'his' tax money and then moans about his refund because he didn't know where he stood financially and was hoping for more.  Since the beginning of time this shit has been repeating.  I'm not sure how seriously I can take tax policy critiques from someone so poorly informed that he gets surprised when he sits down to do his own sums.

How do you propose to pay the military?  Build roads?  Fund schools?  Afford a police and fire department who don't have a financial interest in payrolling thieves and arsonists?  Without any funding there would be no government from a municipal to a federal level and the country would collapse.  But you'd keep whatever you worked for provided you sleep with one eye open.

Interestingly, it's capitalistically inclined employees like OP who can't reconcile themselves with the concept of operating costs.  That's all tax is.  The cost of doing business under a particular set of laws.  If your job doesn't leave you enough money after tax then you should get a better job.  And if you can't then you're not sufficiently marketable and don't deserve it.  Wouldn't that be the hard-nosed capitalist stance?

So you're saying that he deserves what he worked for?  And anyone who takes a slice of what he what he worked for is exploiting him?

Never took you for such a Marxist, 33.  :D

LOL  You forgot the Obama inflation tax we are all getting hammered by.

I forgot nothing. I was answering a post about income taxes. Inflation (tax) is a completely different issue.

What did you do for a living Prime?

The last twenty-seven years I worked, I worked for a very large k-12 school district in buildings and maintenance. I made a decent salary, but nothing to brag about. More importantly, I invested wisely in my retirement. Today my income is slightly higher than it was when I worked. Sacrificing today for a better life tomorrow is a concept many people don't understand these days.

Again - its the spending.  You can't have lower taxes with this crazy level of spending.   Its basic arithmetic.

So when Obama and all the do gooders tell us how wonderful it is to "invest" in all these crazy things - you are paying for it.

That's the European alternative to the one-party government of the english-speaking nations.

In the UK, the Tories came first but could not secure an absolute majority of the votes (because who the fuck votes conservative these days anyway?), resulting in hung parliament- this means they did not elect enough MPs (the equivalent to your Senators) for them to form a majority in the House of Commons (the equivalent to your Senate).

This necessitates a coalition- the coming together of two (or more) parties in order for their MPs to form a majority and subsequently, a government. Some ministries (or "departments") go to ministers from the junior partner, but the largest amount go to the party that received the most votes.

In theory, such an arrangement is supposed to be more democratic, since one party is constantly checking the other- no one party is allowed to fully put its doctrines into practice. They must come to a middle ground on some issues or the country grinds to a halt.

In truth, it turned to be worth fuck all so far in the UK, since the Liberal Democrats who are the junior partners in the coalition have been doing very little to contain the conservatives. Thusly, we've had a tripling of tuition fees in universities (which the Lib Dems had said that they would oppose, before the election, thus reneging on their promises), social benefits cut and banking institutions remaining unregulated (since they are run by former schoolmates of our prime minister)

right, there goes typing a novel for tonight :)

The USA should have a labor party as representation rather than unions.....but the problem is nobody really believes in work enough for that to happen so unions just lobby for the highest bidder. A labor party is a party of the middle class.

no I guess not.   Please educate me how you run a 1.5 trillion deficit and not have higher taxes, higher inflation, lower standard of living, lower debt rating, devaluation of the currency, or all of the above.

Actually, my point still stands: how do you continue to parrot spurious economic benchmarks as if they are real. You are a liar, a hypocrite and a fraud. But, just between you and me, how can you be so unintelligent that you can't realize that you aren't intelligent!?   ;)
