Santorum Again Relates Food Stamps to Minorities

TROY, Mich. -- Rick Santorum on Saturday resuscitated one of his more controversial remarks from the past few months of campaigning for president, connecting food stamps with “minority communities.”

Speaking to a large crowd at the conservative Americans for Prosperity Presidential forum here, Santorum said he planned to “talk to minority communities, not about giving them food stamps and government dependency, but about creating jobs so that they can participate in the rise of this country.”

In January, Santorum made a similar remark, but instead of “minorities,” he used the phrase “black people.” He later said he was misheard.

Santorum also reiterated his belief that one of President Obama’s driving motives for encouraging Americans to attend college is to “remake you into his image.”

very short-sighted strategy here.   yes, he may appeal to a small and rabid chunk of the far right voters that he wants to steal from RP or even mitt.

But to speficially cite minorities - instead of saying fewer food stamps for ALL Americans.... I mean, wow.  Why single them out instead of just saying "I'm cutting food stamps for everyone because that is destroying our economy"?

Not even per capita but it really doesn't matter.  If you're looking to cut expenditures in food stamps, you have to start with the group that uses the majority of them....that being whites.  Same with rapes and murders.

Well, if you had a brain, you would realize that even if you cut off all food stamp to minorities, it would only cut down the expenditures by about 5%.  Sorry but white people use the most food stamps because there's a lot more of you folks that are using them
