This should go both ways but for some stupid reason it doesn't.

At the start of the Iraq War there were many interviews with our troops asking them directly how they felt about going to war with Iraq.  I remember this well because at the time I thought that wasn't a question the media should ask anyone serving in our military. But sure as shit they did and they did it over and over.  At that time I thought: why the fuck are you asking this, even if they were against it they wouldn't say so and they are directed to not say so.  Yet the media sat there asking them questions they are obligated to agree with, not answer or lie if they are personally against it.  There is no option, or at least there wasn't, for being against the commander and chief.

Anyway, the point being, they have used opinions of our troops to advance political decisions and that's just as wrong imo..
