Yes, I have been in DC a couple times. State capitol? No.
No, I wouldnt ever run for public office. I have no tolerance for playing politics, I couldnt do what is necessary to be a politician. I would never last in Washington, because I couldnt play the "game", as it were.

I dislike the extremists on both sides. I cant seem to understand how our candidates keep drifting further and further from the center, if we could find a nice middle ground candidate, people would cross party lines on both sides. It almost feels like they (over the course of many years), have been intentionally dividing us because its creates a way to have a dedicated base, rather than trying to unite voters, they seek to divide us.
And it seems like everyone is ready to throw the constitution to the wayside in favor of pandering to extreme left/right "hot button" issues rather than focusing on working forward on the economy.
I am also a staunch believer in people being able to make their own decisions about how they live their lives (Obviously within reason).

It sounds as if you are waiting for Jesus Christ.  :-X

Well, since you couldn't do what is necessary to be a politician... and while you are waiting for Jesus to return, I resubmit the following dose of reality:

Well Bay, were just going to have to agree to disagree.
BTW, those unemployment numbers are bunk.

Of course they are.  And you have access to the real numbers, is that right?

Good luck with waiting for Jesus. ::)

The numbers dont take into account those that dropped out of the workforce. Theres only been about a hundred arcticles debunking those numbers.
And the Jesus comment... believe all that about Obama and thatCmon Bay, Im sorry im not thrilled with our absolute shit choices for the Presidency. I shouldnt have to be excited between a dishonest flip flopper, a psycho religious extremist, and a man who has no respect for our system at all, and who constantly cries how he doesnt have enough power, or how its always somebody elses fault (more than any president in my memory)
Look dude, I dont know why youre getting so catty about this, you may think Obama's great and thats fine, but to me he just sucks. Ive read a lot on both sides of the issue, and IMHO, other than a very few good things, everything else he's done has been an epic failure. Not to mention that fact that he actually calls himself the 4th most accomplished President in history when his signature piece of legistlation may get tossed out for being unconstitutional (not to mention wildly unpopular with the public).

Thats not even getting into the gross financial fuckups concealed within it, the fact that he lied to get it passed, the fuzzy math, the cronyism (yes I realize they all do it, but he is 100x worse than anyone in recent history but Bush), the promise of "transparency" only to do everything in his power to hide all his dealings. The cooked unemployement figures. How many companies has he handed huge sums of money to, only for them to go bankrupt weeks later?

I could keep going on and on.

His negatives far, FAR outweigh his positives. Again, IMHO.

The problem for me is, I dont like any of the Republican candidates anymore than him... so it becomes a question to me, of either rolling the dice on one of the republican failures, or crossing my fingers and hoping against hope that Obama doesnt go full retard without having to worry about re-election (which isnt likely judging from his comment to Medvedev...  :-\

Im not waiting for Jesus, Im waiting for a candidate that isnt a total and complete fuckup in every facet. I dont think its too much to ask to have just 1 decent candidate, instead of having to choose between 3 that I violently dislike.

EDIT
My bad on the jobs figure, I glanced and it and was thinking it was the same UE chart thats been getting passed around. Not the "jobs created" chart.
Also from what I have read, many of his "created jobs" (on the last chart, the February one) they were taking credit for were seasonal temp jobs.
Also - in regards to what you said earlier - I would take Jon Huntsman in a heartbeat over Obama, Romney, and Santorum.

The whole point here is that I am sick of the terrible candidates we are being presented. The Republicans should have been able to wipe the floor with Obama if they could have just fielded ONE decent candidate.

Instead, were stuck with Romney and Santorum. And it pisses me off royally that our only choices are a wildly corrupt and (seemingly) incompetent current president, a religious extremist, or a man with NO convictions who will say whatever the crowd wants to hear on that particular day.

Im speaking of the 2 newest ones.
Sotomayer and Kagan.
As in the post PIP was referring to, was only talking about the 2 most recent members of the SC.

Labor participation and aggregate work force tell the real story.
