recently have been dealing with inner and outer epicondylitis at my elbows....I though deca would be able to minimize this but apparently it is more ideal at lubing the joints....hate to have to drop weights but somedays this sh*t hurts like sh*t!!! I'm no cry baby and have always worked through the pain but this still sucks...using those padded wraps to put pressure on the tendons but I pay the price when they are off.....any thoughts other than taking it down a notch?
It is what it is, Bravobro.
Use the wraps or pay the price for the pleasure.
You might also do a nice warmup set to guage how the tendons are feeling.....alot of flexion and stretching will help.
happened the other day, i was doing 100s incline press (warming up still) felt alittle pop in my shoulder, still went up to 120s for 8 and felt fine but after that pop i should have known i did something and now it hurts like a bitch but nothing too serious i hope. good lesson to learn
Pops are never good, muscle.
I don't even do flatbenches because they put too much unnatural pressure on the rotator cuff. I only do free weight compounds that are ergonomic and won't affect my longterm vialbility. I've stayed away from injuries so far while lifting very heavy. No shoulder issues, no tears, no cartialiage damage.....but that's also because my form is tight. I've learned that keeping the form tight is the best way to stay injury free. That and deep tissue massage.
Yeah, shoulder pain sucks, I've had some issues over the years with my left shoulder but have managed to get through it ok. About 2yrs ago, I started noticing some odd popping in my shoulder when I did flat bench along with some pretty intense pain. It got to the point where the pain was unbearable so I went to the doc to get it looked at. Ends up I had developed a bone spur on the top of the shoulder along with some deterioration of the shoulder that had left particles of bone floating around in there. The doc said surgery was an option but that I would lose 25-50% of mobility in that arm if I did this, so that option was out. He said that I could keep training, but recommended staying away from low reps with extreme weight, and that I also stay away from flat bench for 3-4 months. I took his advice and started doing some exercises to help strengthen that area, and have since had no problems. It still hurts sometimes, and the Doc said it always would as long as I continued training, but he felt as long as I kept my training smart I could continue to progress.
Hopefully things will continue to go well in the shoulder area. Since that time my chest training now evolves around incline presses, with flat bench being done at higher reps usually 3rd exercise of chest day, and some days not at all. Doing this my chest has actually responded better then it ever has, so I have no complaints. Odd thing about this whole deal is that military presses have never bothered the shoulder, go figure.
Jarnold,
You didn't listen to your body until it was too late. Those pops are the end result of the cartiliage damage in the shoulder capsule. Flat benches are notorious for causing this. Now you can't go as heavy as you'd like to because of the possibility of further damage. You may not feel it now, but you will later. Listen to your body, baby Arnold. Don't listen to your ego.
This has allowed me to work heavy for years......I don't wear braces, pads or anything of that nature. I keep everything pure, just about the muscles, ligaments, tendons and the movement of the weight.
Simple.
