Bodybuilding.com to pay $7 million fine
« on: May 15, 2012, 04:26:49 PM »
Anyone buy these "supplements" from Bodybuilding.com?  Wonder if they are going to pay back customers who bought the supplements or are facing civil actions by some of the customers who suffered ill-effects.

This will certainly hit their pocket books.  They only made $1.8 million on the supplements listed, but have to pay out a $7 million fine.

Bodybuilding company reaches deal with prosecutors

BOISE, Idaho (WTW) — Federal prosecutors reached a plea agreement with an Idaho-based online fitness supplement company and its former president on charges the company sold misbranded drugs, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

The plea agreements with the Meridian-based company, Bodybuilding.com, and its former president Jeremy DeLuca, are still subject to a judge's approval. A hearing has been scheduled for May 24 in U.S. District Court.

...Ryan DeLuca, 34, acknowledged the five products — I Force Methadrol, Nutra Costal D-Stianozol, I Force Dymethazine, Rage RV5 and Genetic Edge Technologies SUS500 — were drugs sold improperly under the label of "dietary supplements."...

staniazol is kinda a give away ;D

so they sold steroids disguised as protein powders/supplements?

Grey market steroids sold as Pro-hormones. Also I believe they might of gone after them about grey market stimulants. They're cracking down hard on all that stuff again.

are pro hormones still legal in the usa? ???

this is funny because that site always pretended to promote natural bbuilding.or was everyone in on it ;D

Yeah, some of the pro - hormones are still available, they ban some, then they modify them a bit to sneak by or they find another odd one to reproduce. Most of the big guys have stopped, now it's mostly smaller companies that produce them for a bit, make some cash, then leave.

Actually, lots of the "nutraceutical" companies are based in Utah and Idaho.  Not sure why.  Maybe it is Mormon's running them.

I might be wrong but my understanding was that prohormones are nothing more than precursors, i.e., they only slightly enhance whatever testosterone is already produced naturally by the body, they don't add new/foreign hormones into the mix. They've only been shown to increase test levels by around 6% which is miniscule.

I don't know about in the States, I know they were banned there some time ago, but if they sell them in GNC here in the UK then they're not exactly going to be out-and-out steroids are they? I remember using them when they first came out - didn't gain a single ounce. I laugh when I think back - they used to have them in glass cases in the health food store as if they were some big secret. Yet when I was injecting the real thing I was putting on 15-20 in a matter of weeks. Big difference.

The old ones were like that. The new ones are drugs that were abandoned by drug companies during trials or actual drugs that have been modified to not make it on to the scheduled drug lists here in the US. For instance, the original Methasterone (sold now as Superdrol) was first researched by Syntex, the makers of Anadrol.

Dymethazine is another actual steroid that is sold as a pro - hormone.

H-Drol only needs a mild conversion to turn into Turinabol, the famous East German Olympic steroid from years back.

There's a bunch of others too.

Ya I thought that Deluca dude sold off most of it for like 100 million but stayed on for some apparent reason. Couldn't imagine getting a 100million dollar check from a silly BBuilding board and not running for the hills like you stole something. Staying on just opens yourself up to lawsuits. But then again, they are a greety bunch now aren't they....He's got to squeeze every nickle out of that thing i imagine...
