Dogs usually ingest more if exposed and that's why we hear about it being more toxic in dogs, but it's just as toxic to cats.  It's the theobromine along with the caffeine that causes problems.  A higher cocoa content vs the weight of the animal = trouble and can last in the system over 17 hours so if you suspect your pet got into chocolate, contact your vet immediately.

that chocolate stuff is over rated, my ten pound dog got into some holoween candy one year and ate like 5 or 6 reeses cups and 2 full size baby ruth bars. never botherd him :)

I think when they reach a certain weight they realize they will never have the willpower to be thin again; they give up and just eat until the Grim Reaper arrives....
