It doesn't sound as if you're married. I've been married nearly 10 years. Trust me; the LAST thing on my mind or that of my guests was campaign donations for ANYONE.
I'm not - and I have no intention of being married anytime soon. I enjoy the bachelor lifestyle way too much
But my point was that if I were invited to a wedding, and the couple said "please donate rather than giving a gift" I would have felt a certain amount of pressure to at least consider donating. I don't know if I would or not: it would depend greatly on where the donation would go and how the positions of the organization getting a donation squared with my positions, but for people who are either on the fence about Obama, or just not interested enough, this could be the "gentle nudge" needed to get them over the edge to donate. And in
that sense, I think it's a smart political play.
This sounds to me as if (as I stated in another thread), Obama is hurting for cash.
Perhaps, although I doubt that is the case. We will know, soon enough - June 30th is the reporting deadline.
