Thank God that quick minded teacher stopped him just in time! Before you know it, we could have had another Candy Hook on our hands

What's REALLY scary, is that these people have access to and authority over little kids  :o

We are slowly having our rights as parents dissolved by the state - I took my son to A&E about 6 months back (he was 2 at the time) because he had a recurring bout of croup cough (where the airway gets a bit inflamed in the larynx/viral infection.

Anyway, this was the 5/6th time I had to take him there to get an oral steriod which clears it up every time within hours. I get seen by a nurse and she gives him the steroid, and then says I have to wait a couple of hours to see a doctor..."No thanks, he just needs to get home and sleep" Nurse "You'd better wait until the doctor sees him" Me "I have every right to take my son when I please, and i'm satisfied that he will be fine"

Nurse comes over without the discharge form and again tries to bully me into staying - Me "You'd better go and get the discharge form or I will talk to your manager."

Long story short, we take our son home and he's 100% within hours.

2 weeks later we get a fucking visit from Social Services because they were worried about the welfare of our son  ::)

Chalk it up to other crappy parents---they make it harder for other parents...and also the fact that SS HAS to be contacted so that the hospital covers their butt and is not sued...just like schools have to contact SS when something is "amiss" (regardless if it is harmless or not).

At the same time, the state loves a bad egg. Nothing like a drastic case of abuse/crime/terrorism to get some legislation rolling that's been talked about at meetings for 5 years!
