If he bought it (which I doubt) for that price (which I highly doubt), then all it tells us is that he doesn't know jack shit about real estate investing.  So who gives a shit if the real estate near him is dead.  It's a shitty area (his admission) that no one would be buying into if the market was still at 2007 peaks. 

The market here is going up by the day.  I bought two condos in 2010 as dirt cheap investments and they are already worth double what I paid.

Since we live in a representative republic crediting government with all this shit is completely ludicrous. Because of our constitution the only reason the government has any power to do anything is because we allow it. The Federal Government is not some omnipotent entity with free reign to do as it see's fit, some of you see to think it is. Start reading first with the constitution then the federalist and anti-federalist papers, this might turn on a light bulb for some.........

I agree with your other sentence.  The only problem is that you forgot to mention that people have to read Supreme Court cases as well, so that they can understand how the Constitution has been interpreted.
