Had we not bailed out the Auto Industry

Had we not bailed out the Auto Industry, and let mismanaged failing businesses fail.  Wouldn't Toyota, Honda, BMW (that do the majority of their manufacturing in the United States) have filled that gap?

???

Most likely, and the big 3 would have filed for bankruptcy protection and reorganized for the whatever time.

They would have picked up alot of the market and probably would have had a few new companies already established overseas come in as well.

Problem is there would have been a lag of down time. Which isnt necissarily a bad thing as it would me less efficient and competitive businesses were no longer in the market. There would likely be a disruption in supply for the other companies still around though as some suppliers would go out of business due to the lack of buyers of their products.

The industry would have bounced back no doubt but it would have taken some time.
