The Democrats think Romney just self-destructed by pointing out, um, THEIR ENTIRE STRATEGY

OMG, you guys, it's all over.

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.

I can see why Democrats are so offended. How dare Mitt Romney say they’re dependent on the government? Only Democrats get to say they’re dependent on the government!

Has everybody already forgotten “Julia”?

If you haven’t seen the whole “Life of Julia” slideshow on Obama’s campaign site, or if you need a refresher, check it out. The entire premise is that you’re dependent on the government from cradle to grave, and The Evil Mitt Romney is going to take it all away from you and make you fend for yourself.

That’s Obama’s reelection message: “Vote for me or Romney will take away all the free goodies you’ve got coming to you! By the way, can you believe he called you a mooch?” The Democrats based their whole convention around the premise that you need Obama just to survive. (Well, that and killing Bin Laden. Which they suddenly don’t feel like talking about anymore, for some odd reason…)

The economy is collapsing. Our embassies are being overrun. Our diplomats are being murdered, and our own government is blaming it on the First Amendment. And Obama doesn’t know what to do about any of it, except for his usual plan of lying his ass off. So he and his enablers in the media hope you’ll be distracted by Romney’s “gaffe” of criticizing the Democrats’ strategy. They hope you’ll be offended that Romney pointed out what the Dems have been telling you your whole life: You need the government to provide for you, and you can’t go a single day without a handout. They hope you’re as credulous as the people who voted for them last time.

If you’ve been watching the news for the past week and you can’t believe how stupid they think you are, that somehow they imagine you can’t see what they’re doing, I have two words for you:

November. Sixth.

Update: Courtesy of the mighty Iowahawk: Julia’s Circle of Life.

Update: From the Too Good to Be True file: The video came from Jimmy Carter’s unemployed grandson?

Update: Speaking of secret tapes, remember Rashid Khalidi? The LA Times hopes you don’t.

Update: This was such a big secret, Romney has been saying it in broad daylight for months.

yeah, one dingbat must surely represent 47% of the country (what is that ~ 150 million people)

I assume everyone hear who agree with Romney called their parents or grandparents who depend on social security and medicare to get off their lazy asses and stop being victims and start taking some personal responsibility.

That's such a great message for Romney that I really dont' understand why he only shares these thoughts at these at these small private gatherings and not on the campaign trail

btw - since corporations are people I assume Romney believes that 47% of all corporations also believe they are victims and are entitled to health care, housing, etc..

  • I am. The most interesting man in the world. (Not)
He shouldn't have used percentages, but in essence what he said is correct.

Unfortunately, there are far more than one "dingbat", who thought much the same thing, regarding Obama.

Romney has hardly hid what he had to say about this matter. It's the left who think they "exposed" Romney. In fact, Romney asked that the rest of the video be shown. As it turns out (what a shock!!!  ::) ), Mother Jones and/or Jimmy Carter IV left out about 2 minutes of the soundbyte.

And it turns out that Romney was answering a donor's question, regarding how Romney was going to convince voters to take care of themselves, when the Dems have been promising to take care of them.

Romney went on Cavuto and explained his statement further. He had a press conference, earlier this week. He's standing by his statement.

With that said, this is hardly a new issue in the conservative narrative. It's a subject, covered almost on a weekly basis (i.e. Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Levin, etc).

The reason this got "leaked" is because, having failed to bury Romney with Dog-gate, Bully-gate, Cancer-gate, Bain-gate, Tax-gate, The DNC Clinton speech, etc., the left-winged goofies in the media are now on to the new flavor-of-the-week/month "Romney-just-lost-the-election" spiel.

I've lost count of how many times Romney's been read last rites on this campaign.

Exactly.  The old people on SS, even if they have been on Gov't programs their entire lives, deserve it at this point.  If you've made it that far, give it to them, I'll pay a bit extra for them to not have to eat cat food.  That being said, the free loaders I hae zero sympathy for, and they should be put to work building new roads, our infrastructure is crumbling and it will cost this country dearly in the future. It is ashame that our roads have come to such a state, as to not promote interstate commerce.  I know I hate having to travel for work, but you do what you have to do.

What do you mean "you do what you have to do"? Uncle Sam owes you a job, within walking distance of your house, with a minimum wage of $20/hour, even if you can barely spell your own name.

so rather than saying 47% he should have said that ~ 150 million people (including the majority of the elderly) are believe they are victims and dependent of the government ?

yeah, that sounds much better

47% of people will vote obama no matter what.

47% of people pay no taxes.

Both statements are correct.  BUt they're not the same group of people.  Some overlap, some nap.  Romney lumped them in together, in the same sentence actually.

That's pretty much it. But, Straw is pretty much speaking the media talking points (some of which, ironically, includes beltway Republicans, who swore up and down that Romney was the only 'electable' candidate).

exactly what have I said that you believe is a talking point?

btw - I never thought Romney was electable so you can attribute that belief to someone else
