Incidentally, my father had his own successful business. As you say, he took the risks. Sometimes they paid off big time and sometimes not.

Workers take a chance that their employer will be successful and they will continue to have a job. Incidentally, the majority of people in this country work for someone else. Mitt Romney worked for Bain Capital, now he is campaigning to work for the American public. The U.S. President is the ultimate public employee who works in a position that has a relatively short duration and very high risks. How many jobs are there where the employees run the risk that some nut job will assassinate them?

What do you think government should limit its focus to? By the way, we are the government. Congress works for the people. The President works for the people. If we don't like what they are doing (or more recently, not doing), we fire them by not reelecting them.

Romney wants to do away with FEMA. That would narrow government some. How do you feel about that?

If this shit happened in a "red state" outside the minority/welfare fueled cities, you'd hear alot less bitching. Towns in Kansas and Mo get buried every year...they rebuild and move on.

Sure.....but they aren't helpless. I went to Joplin shortly after it got flattened. The people there were doing what they needed to..the state did its job. FEMA has't done shit in NYC. So either things like this are hard regardess of who's in the White House or Obama just sucks at this like everything else he does.
