Drinking & Driving During the Holidays
« on: December 22, 2012, 10:50:21 AM »
I would like to share a personal experience with the readers of GetBig about drinking and driving.

As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from an occasional social session over the years. A couple of nights ago, I was out for an evening with friends and had a couple of cocktails and some rather nice red wine.

Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before ~ I took a cab home.

Sure enough, I passed a police road block but, since it was a cab, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise since ...I have never driven a cab before and am not sure where I got it or what to do with it now that it's in my garage.  :o

Last night I saw three different cars at different intersections run Red Lights, and a van almost hit a guard rail.

Dude, ...do you actually think that I would EVER be so irresponsible as to drink & get behind the wheel? ...let alone post about it publicly?

Someone's been into a little too much eggnog!  ;D   ;)

drunk drivers are dangerous.  I'll have 1-2 glasses of wine, then drive 6 hours later.  That's it.

If i'm out, I'll have 1/2 glass and leave the rest.  Enough to crack a smile but not to be inebriated in any way.

I'll have 1-3 at home to good off and watch a movie and get a little crazy, but I'm not driving, i'm going to my bed after that.

I see it all the time, I can't understand it... finishing off your night with 2 rounds of shots before hopping in your car.  unreal.

Growing up I could never understand the admonishments not to "drink & drive".
In my little pint sized brain, I always thought they had it backwards.

I always thought it should have been "Don't Drive & Drink."

It seemed counter-productive to try to make someone reason or think straight AFTER they have been drinking. Clearly the mind is impaired and incapable of making rational, responsible decisions at that point.

I always thought these decisions should be made clear & sober. If you know you're driving, don't drink. simple. Anyone else ever thought like this, ...or is it just me?

No, we've never met. I would have gone straight in the other direction if I ever saw you coming. It's just your general style.... extremely lame... no game whatsoever. That would of course severely limit your choices... to women too drunk to be conscious, ...or little girls whose tiny little fingers aren't strong enough to press the button on a can of mace.  :D
