I wish i could view my life in the myopic lenses of black and white. I imagine at times you suffer severely from cognitive dissonance. How would you react to one of you kids coming out of the closet? Would you still love him or would you pawn him off as liberal scum?

That doctor's life story is just incredible. This black guy grew up with nothing. His mother couldn't read or write but demanded that her children excel in academics.  He is one of the top child brain surgeons in the world.

Even while suffering from cancer he continues to operate on hundreds of children a year. He operated on conjoined twins who were connected by the brain and no other doctor would touch it. He commanded a team of over 50 medical personnel and did what they all said couldn't be done in over a 20 hour operation.

 This guy deserves all the praise in the world.  The only thing political I know  he has said is taxes should be the same percentage for everyone with no loop holes or deductions for everyone regardless of income. The majority of the middle class would see a reduction in pay roll taxes and the rich would pay more. The low end wage earners would pay a little but all the same percentage.

You are right. Carson was one of my students when he was in medical school at the University of Michigan and a collegue when he was at Johns Hopkins with me in Neurosurgery. He was a student rotating through Neuro at Michigan as I had already finished medical school at Johns Hopkins. Ben Carson is very religious. He is a hell of a nice guy and is a Pediatric Neurosurgeon. Hopkins always had a way of bringing the best out of their M.D.s. Fabulous institution. And yes I know Carson real well. He chose academics, and although the Doc was originally channeled in that direction, Doc chose both-- academics and $$$$.

He does have prostate CA-- he survived this and is in remission.

Wish me well bros. The Doc is presenting in Neuro at the AAN Conference in San Diego this week. Doc looks fully jacked//thick and fully roided. Gonna make these women wet looking at me!!

That's based, in part to the sacrificial system the ancient Israelites had in the Bible (see Levicitus 1). The rich sacrificed oxen; the middle-class sacrificed sheep or goats; and the poor used pigeons or turtledoves.

Dr. Carson was also correct that tithe was 10% across the board: rich, middle-class, and poor.

What a treat to be able to have communication with a fine MD as yourself! Very cool that you and Dr. Carson go way back, Thanks for sharing. Being an African American, Dr. Carson was a huge inspiration of mine to go into the medical field. I met him in the late 90's and his PA Carol James and he just blew me away. As I made my way through PA school, I remember the one little advice he gave me-"the person that has the most to do with what happens to you, is YOU". Not somebody else, not some environmental factor, its YOU and the choices that you make. After that I knew that I could always change my situation, regardless of my circumstances that I was born with, and nothing bothered me anymore.

I hope Dr. Carson has an impact in politics like he did in medicine. my very best to him as well you, at your symposium/conference.
