How did they lose 3 Abrams MBTs and 5 self propelled howitzers that should not have been near the front line?!?

That's normal.  They prob were destroyed or quit functioning and when you're advancing ground, the shit has to be left behind.  Its a battle...not a budget.  BTW, that's the cost to replace which it won't because that stuff was build back in the 70's and newer equipment is available
