The car looks totaled but it could be leased. If it's leased why would he care. He never owned the car anyway. At least he lived.

Apparently this is recent. They stopped making e46 M3s in 2006. So, this car is at the least 7 yrs old. At the most 10-12 yrs old. Who'd lease a 7 yr old car? BMW's warranties are only good for 4 yr/50k miles.
