yesterday i was at wedding

a 10yr old son of a sister in law was about to lose it and break in tears after his aunt snapped at him for doing something clumsy

i could see he was about to lose it and about to feel embarrassed for doing so in front of everybody

i said

"HEY TAKE IT EASY TAKE A REALLY DEEP BREATH.... AGAIN TAKE REALLY DEEP BREATH CALM YOURSELF DOWN FELLA YOU ARE A MAN NOT A BOY"

and he got himself together

I fucking hate when people shout at kids for being clumsy. It makes them self conscious and they end up more clumsy because of it.

Yes shouting at them is wrong, a fucking clip round the ear is much more effective, just not too hard so you burst the eardrum and throw off their equilibrium, they will just get far more clumsy if that happens.

yup i felt a bit sorry for the little fella

but honestly he needs to be put into place every now and then, he's all over the place acting like a fool all the time (as kids his age do) so it may be appropriate
