Using the new iPhone 5c to watch the Mr Olympia webcast
« on: September 10, 2013, 11:34:05 AM »
Apple announces the iPhone 5c: 4-inch Retina display, plastic design, available in five colors starting at $99 on-contract

And then there were two. Apple has for the first time announced a second new iPhone model: the iPhone 5c. As rumored, the device has a colorful new polycarbonate design, which Apple says is made from a single part save the front panel -- the whole of which is a multitouch surface -- and reinforced with a steel structure that's said to be made using a new construction method. It's "beautifully, unapologetically plastic," according to Apple's Jony Ive.

As for specs, you'll get the same 4-inch Retina display as the iPhone 5 (full sRGB), plus an A6 processor, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi connectivity, a higher capacity batter, and an 8-megapixel, backside-illuminated camera with a 5-element lens. A new front-facing camera also promises better performance in low light.

Available in blue, white, pink, yellow and green, the 5C will set you back $99 on a two-year contract for the 16GB version, or $199 for the 32GB (or $549 and $649 off-contract). Those looking for a bit of added protection can also opt for one of the new cases that Apple has designed to match the phone -- they'll set you back $29 apiece. Pre-orders open up on September 13th, with the phone set to ship alongside the iPhone 5s a week later on September 20th.

The only way those phones could look any gayer would be to manufacture them in the shape of a big penis.  Which may be the next one they release.

I've always gotten it in black.

I don't understand the cheesy colors.  I can't get it in black anymore.  Don't they understand some people don't want a high profile noticeable phone?

Attracting little kids and blacks.  They see how blacks and white teens are flocking to the colorful Beat By Dre headphones so they want to see to that market.

I don't understand this statement. What do they mean that Apple has for "the first time" announced a second new Iphone model?

Haven't they always done this? Iphone 3 & 3g, 4 & 4g, 5 & 5c...?...

As for specs, you'll get the same...

It seems as if Apple has a really solid business model. That being, never give the consumer an ideal phone, but instead sprinkle each consecutive model with little features that would have made it way better the first time around and keep pushing out a new product each year, as to frustrate the shit out of current Iphone owners who would want the new features, yet can't have them because their now "old" model doesn't have the necessary software/hardware to cope with the "new" technology.

I think Apple has lost its allure and their time will soon be at an end.

They meant releasing two phone models at the same time.

Good choice girlfriend.  :-*

Lol, seriously tho, iPhone 5S is awesome. First 64 bit phone, and fingerprint scanner. Looks like something out of a sci-if movie. I want.

Yes a 64 bit model for my 64 bit applications that I can run one at a time.  YES!

Apple used to be synonymous with innovation.  Now they are resting on their laurels.   And as a result of this, they are quickly losing market share to Android.

I don't get the colors... who freaking cares.  All I know is that everyone that has a cell phone, myself included, as a cover on the phone that protects it anyway covering up whatever color the original phone is. So why all the hype on it...

Yep. Seems strange to hear something like "beautifully, unapologetically plastic" from a company like Apple, which (until now) had always seemed to promote itself swimming in the higher end of the market.

Forget all the new models and fix the battery which never keeps up with all the technology and processors.

First GPS mapped your every move, and now slowly but surely, they'll have everyone's fingerprint on file...

Doing it with "cool" technology is easier:)
