Adidas ready to throw $180 million at Andrew Wiggins
« on: October 16, 2013, 09:06:31 AM »
Three sources told Bleacher Report that Adidas has pegged Wiggins as their prime target—and they would be willing to open up the bank for him. Of course, no meetings or official offers can be made until Wiggins declares for the 2014 draft after his season at Kansas.

"(Adidas) is easily the front-runner, 100 percent," said Rich Lopez, the publisher of the popular sneaker website KixandtheCity.com.

"From what I'm hearing, (Adidas) is really high on him," an industry source said. "I've heard a range for sure, from like $140 to $180 million for like 10 years. That's a big deal for a kid coming out of school because most rookie deals are probably like four years."

"I'm hearing from people at Kansas that he's got a $180 million offer supposedly coming from Adidas," a source close to Wiggins' inner circle said. "But I also heard that Nike is going to match anything."

This is why the NBA isn't coachable.  WTF did he do at Kansas?

marketability my friend, has nothing to do with accomplishments. Also, don't you think that Addidas is looking to get more out it than they give him?

So explain the success of Poppavich(sp?) and Doc Rivers?  Which professional league is coachable these days?

No way he increases their shoe sales.  Even Shaq's RBK shoes ended up in Walmart.  They are jumping the gun on this guy, trying to beat Nike.  If a MFer can't be the mascot for the next Air Line of shoes, then he shouldn't be getting that kind of deal.  Their CEO will be gone in 2 yrs.

He has NBA body but not skills yet, but he certainly will.  Physically, he's the same height as lebron, probably close to the same vertical leap.  He's 30 pounds lighter than lebron was at this age, so I don't know that he'll be dominant at that level... although once he gets to college and starts eating, then to the NBA and enjoys some GH, he'll probably be unstoppable.

I'd say he's probably more the next Durant, rather than the next lebron.

He'll have a blast playing for the Wizards or Kings.  ::)

haha

he probably is a once in a decade pick.  I can see a really good team trading bigtime to get him.

Or, the NBA will just fix the lottery so the Cavs or Lakers or magic get him ;) lol...  No way they let him sink to sacramento.

Well, Doc really hasn't done too much. Garnet is the one who won a title for Doc...Without Garnet coming to the Celtics, Doc was probably going to be without a job. Doc was able to coast on the shirt tails of Garnet, Ray and Pierce. Right now the Heat could eliminate the head coaching position all together and they would most likely win another title with the players they have.

He won't be marketable playing for a shitty franchise.  If he goes to Sac, Wash or NO, he will wash away in obscurity.  If Lakers get a lottery pick you bet he is going there.  Same with the Celtics.

This is actually a good deal for Adidas!

They paid Beckham that money and he truly evolved that brand into something massive.

Dude will end up with a torn ACL before season's end.  Lots of shitty players in college that cause injuries to the good players
