Russia?  There are a few of the mega-rich, and the rest of the population are dirt-poor.  Russia suffers from catastrophic below birth replacement rates.  Swilling down ridiculous amounts of vodka have reduced lifespans to a mere 50 years.  Meanwhile, you have Putin cavorting around due to his Napoleonic Complex while the knowing population simply shake their heads in shame and embarrassment...but not in the open, however:  Russia is mob-ruled, fanatically loyal to Putin, who will murder journalists or anyone who dares speak out against fearless leader.  Some progress, and some leader he is.

Please.

Change the record already. Even Forbes reported this year, the world famous birth rate has grown 10% since 2008 and is now bigger than what it is for example in USA.
Also the few megarich and rest dirt-poor thing is so 90s. This can be seen to be false by just taking a look at sold cars. Russia is overtaking Germany as the Europe's largest car market. It's hardly the fukin' oligarks who buy these Toyotas and Volkswagens. It's the emerging middle class. And that is, as everything else, thanks to Putin.

Does Hungary have any valuable natural resources other than goulash?

Good question. What is the economic stronghold their?

If they can do that I'm guessing the economy is pretty strong, although I know nothing about the economy their.

yeah I dont think ive ever agreed with anything he has said.

No one is denying the country is full of problems but it's ridicilous to ignore the turn for better that has been taken. Especially when in most places the direction is for worse these days.

It's like the report I read from some defence publication recently; "Russian submarine fleet is renewing but it ain't sailing much".
OH shit. For two decades they touted the old subs are rusting at dockyards. Now Rus have the new subs and pics of them can be found by anybody thanks to internet so they can't deny it, so now it's screamed they are not patrolling. HAHA unbelievable. Never admit Putin has done some good things.

A few yrs back when I was selling fitness equipt I went to convention in Denver.  There were two Russian guys there who owned the rights to a particular line and had become millionaires in there mid 20's from nothing.  Really nuce guys and cool to talk to/drink with.

Ah.... fair enough.

I still disagree with the majority of you opinions on the direction we should be heading, however.

but yes, change is inevitable.

I recall German government put some heavy subsidies on new cars to boost the sales. I don't know if this program has already ended though.

But yes, German market slumped and in fact Russia already overtook it in monthly sales recently.
Russian oligarkhs (joke) bought  235,000 to 240,000 vehicles in August when Germans bought  214,100 in the same period.

You say Toyota and Vag are shit. OK, but the Russian workman must start somewhere. Is this concept totally strange to you?
There's no accumulated inherited wealth because the 90's took everything people had.

Just to ruin your day, Mercedes too expects 20% growth for their sales in Russia this year.
See how it works, people who have climbed the ladders in society by getting better paying jobs begin to upgrade their vehicles, houses etc.

And strangely I see that not every American has RR neither  :o

According to wsj, the TOP 20 selling cars in USA in September contain known luxury brands like Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Toyota Corolla/Matrix, Honda Civic, Nissan Altima, Ford Focus among others.

while american wealth distribution is terrible,(i think uk is even more extreme), check out russia.

http://www.rferl.org/content/russia-billionaire-wealth-inequality/25132471.html

ok this is the upper echelon, but lets see how the middle class is doing

thats called gini coeffizient

according to gini coeffizent, the average weatlth distribution is percentaly just the same in the usa and russia.

btw germany is an absoute economic shithole.or black hole, so to say.the export economy is funded by workers forfeiting their own inflation correction wage top ups,and many similiar measures.
the economy numbers as a whole are good, the ppl on indiviudual basis are getting the shaft.

I notice with the liberal left they have no problem with wealth if it's an athlete, entertainer or someone involved with high tech especially computers or green energy. If you are rich because of oil, coal, metals, real estate, owning franchises or some other business they have a problem. I have no problem with the rich. The watching of wealth distribution is a call to a socialist type governments. I'm sure many feel it would be just to tax someone making over 250K 50% because why do they need all that money when the government can find just ways to use it.  (sarcasm)

Entertainers and Co. are muppets with which the mass can be manipulated... so they get a pass.
Truly wealthy people who just portray success are, of course, less wanted.

How is the taxation in the US - at which salary does the dreaded 50% "donation" set in?

no, I didn't say that they are shit, I said that they primarily sell beige econoboxes, as in cars like Golfs, Jettas, Corollas, Camrys, etc. Toyotas are more economical and reliable than VWs...

And you have to look at what segments where Mercedes expects to see growth. Is it the entry level, or the mid level (E Class), or the upper level (S Class)? Which segments have grown, and which segments are they low in.

Fact is, where is the home grown Russian market? Was there ever one? Ladas were retooled Fiats.

Depends on who is buying in the US, and what the needs are. Average everyday people who want reliable transportation will go with "beige"---like Camry, Civic, Accord, etc. That is why they are the leaders in their segment.

You have to look at many different factors.
