Boehner hires legalization advocate to advise on immigration

House Speaker John A. Boehner announced Tuesday that he has hired a longtime advocate of legalizing illegal immigrants to be an adviser, signaling that the Republican is still intent on trying to pass an immigration bill during this congressional session.
Immigrant rights advocates cheered the move as a sign of Mr. Boehner’s dedication to action. Those who want a crackdown on illegal immigration said the top Republican in the House has moved closer to embracing amnesty by hiring Rebecca Tallent, a former staffer for Sen. John McCain and fellow Arizona Republican Jim Kolbe.

aw, crap.   I also saw Boehnner refused to vow to get a repub health bill signed in 2014.

Sounds like we're stuck with obamacrap now... they wanna ride it thru the 2014 elections...   No alternative in the works for boehnner, despite the presence of several repub options for healthcare :(

And what would the party in power gain from an alternative/fix by the minority party and subsequent political credit to said party. Absolutely nothing. Nor would they entertain an alternative. Is this even debatable?

It's not about power, it's about what's best for the american people - and you're telling me if they delivered an amazing alternative to obamacare, 2 months before elections, and obama/senate wrecked it, that wouldn't help them with elections?

Lets the dems kill the bill, it'll only help repubs win.

Lol, it is about power and only when it benefits americans AND the democrats can score political points at the same time will they lift a finger. Republicans are not innocent one bit on this either. We're not breaking any new ground here. This is the current status quo.
