Okay so here is my honest opinion. I don't live in the south anymore but I'm an Auburn grad. Yes, this rivalry is taken very serious and our entire seasons success depends on the outcome. There are no professional teams in the south so college football is everything. I'd say about 75% of the state are Bama fans while 25% are auburn fans. Most of the students and alumni take it seriously but can still joke and talk trash with friends at the opposing school. It seems its the uneducated trailer park trash that can't take a loss. These trailer dwelling Bama fans have no life and the only thing that makes them feel like winners is Alabama football. In the last week there have been lots of theses types of things happening only to a lesser degree then murder. If you don't know who that peice of shit Harvey Updyke is then google him, he's a perfect example.
