Liver Enzymes
« on: January 09, 2014, 02:30:58 PM »
Anybody have info on liver enzymes?  I just had a blood workup done, and my doc is concerned about SGLOT & SGPT reading above normal. I have been doing HRT for a few years, nothing crazy, just newbie cycles with the standard off cycle time.  Wondering if you guys have any experience with this sort of thing.  My doc has scheduled an ultra sound.  ???
Thanks in advance for any intel!

I just read Shrek's post about jaundice and I'm freaking out.  My piss isn't dark and I'm not yellow - yet!  Drinking is not my issue - maybe a couple of glasses of wine on a weekend - tops.

No orals. Total basic cycle: 200mg test cyp weekly and I throw in some prop on occasion. I know, that's really pathetic  :(

I think it's just above the range.  SGLOT is in the 40's, and SGPT is something like 75.

big deal. I wouldn't worry much. doc just wants to bill the insurance company for an ultrasound and make some money off you.

my sgot/sgpt have been well over 240 each in the past (when I was drinking 2L vodka per day while on cycle... that's over a decade ago, mind you).

this is nothing.

the 40 reading is fine.

the 75 reading is bit high, but no problemo.

if you eaten plenty the day before or trained the day before, this happens.

go 12hrs fasted after non training day for "best" results.

ive had readings as high as 117-233.

now that kinda concerned the docs.

i fixed what was causing it and 1 month later had 20-35 readings.

Those #s should be at least 10 to 20 points lower on TRT. I would guess there's alchol,NyQuil, Tylenol, orals, ect that have to be bringing the #s up. Take 1 or 2 liv 52 a day and test again in 2 months.

Hmm...
The blood test was done end of December and I had been off TRT for 3 months.  Just restarted TRT in Jan.  I haven't used NyQuil, Tylenol or orals.  I do take a lot of Advil...
Alcohol some on the weekend, but only a few beers / wine.  Nothing excessive.

How did you "fix" what was causing the high readings?
going off of everything

btw i never drink.dont underestimate the "power" of alc on the liver.

liver can only absorb 5gramms per hour.

a half liter beer has 25 gramms alc.this is just beer.do the math, takes 5 hrs to metabolize that, and then comes the normal food on top of that, all food is metabolized by liver, and then the training loads which put strain on liver too.

but going off every meication whatsoever will make it go down, simplke as that.

Thanks for the info and feedback everyone.  It's helpful to know that a few of you have wrestled with this problem too. I plan to cut back on the obvious, and see how things play out.  :-\
