Sounds like he's running.  Not sure he has a broad enough appeal, but it would be good to have as part of the race/debate.

Rand Paul ‘seriously considering’ run for president

CNN's Greg Clary

(CNN) – Tea party darling Sen. Rand Paul said Sunday he’s seriously considering a run for president in 2016 - but he also has serious concerns.

"The thought has crossed my mind,” Paul said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“I am seriously thinking about it, but I'm also very serious about family considerations.”

Is Paul running for president? Ask his wife

Paul was asked about running for higher office on Friday at the Detroit Economic Club. He said his wife controls both available votes in his family. “Both of them are ‘no’ votes right now,” he told the audience.

For now, Paul said, he still has time to make a decision and will weigh how his decision will affect both him and his family.

"I'll just keep doing the things I want to do and, I think, what the people of Kentucky elected me to do. I just am not ready to make a decision yet," Paul said.

Someone with his ideology and stances would be great as president. Its what we need more than ever now, following the current nanny-state radical.

I love it.  I hope he runs, and I hope he wins.

no sense running a RINO like Christie... voters won't be able to tell his positions from Hilary.

Paul would be a HUGE contrast.  It'd be tough for Hilary to say "What I've been doing/supporting since 1993 white house has gotten us to this awesome place we're in... so stick with me"  lol...

Ron Paul: Rand Paul will likely run in 2016
By TAL KOPAN | 12/10/13 6:10 AM EST

Father knows best?

Former Rep. Ron Paul says his son, Sen. Rand Paul, will “probably” launch a campaign for the White House in 2016.

“I think he probably will. I mean he’s been on TV hinting that he very well might,” the former Republican congressman from Texas said on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront” on Monday. “I think he is handling himself quite well.”

The senior Paul, who has waged presidential campaigns himself, said the time for fatherly advice has passed.

“Well, I think he’s going to make up his own mind. And I had my opportunity to give him advice when he was much younger,” Paul said. “He’s been a pretty independent person, which you would expect, and he’s very libertarian-like. And therefore he will make up his own mind.”

The freshman senator has been the subject of much speculation for the Republican presidential nominee in 2016, but has declined to answer definitively whether he will run to date and this week said his wife does not want him to run.

Meanwhile, Ron Paul, a frequent critic of the president, did praise President Barack Obama for his diplomatic work on Iran and expressed concern that Congress could get in his way.

“I think under the circumstances it’s a great breakthrough. And during the campaign you heard me say it very often, we ought to do more diplomacy and less shooting from the hip,” Paul said.

He continued: “I’m frightened that the Congress right now, even though I’m always upholding Congress to try do the right thing and curtail the presidential potential powers, I’m afraid Congress will come in and just block this by saying, ‘No, what we need are more sanctions to see how many more Iranian people we can kill, like we did in Iraq.’ … I hope the president is going to be successful on this. I’m cheering him on.”

"Good... I think he's great for the narrative.  I think a moderate republican like Christie would be a much better candidate, but I like that Rand is part of the discussion and letting his conservative ideals be spotlighted.  Obviously, given the success we had with moderates in 2008 and 2012, it only makes sense that we stick with this same formula in 2016."

- Typical Repub regurgitating what media tells him in 2016.
