Im guessing yes. We all have had or will have an event like that. The way that you respond to a crisis reveals your true strength.
Mentzer caved. He crumbled. He did not bounce back.
I find it odd that he was obsessed with "recovering" from the damaging effects of intense training. But yet he was unable to "recover" from his crisis in '80. He spent the next 20 years talking about "recovery", but deep down he was unable to "recover" (grow). He was unable to do the one thing that he was obsessed with: recover.
It's very ironic.
