What the hell ever happened to Brad Castleberry? Remember when the forums were raging about this guy and his 6 plate benches and natty status?

Then it all kind of faded away. Like Leafybug...whatever happened to that guy?

It's christmas, and I'm reminiscing on getbiggers past.

Leafy was not on Castleberry level not even close, but good build. And yes, he's gone.

Stole the words right from my mouth.

If you want to work on increasing your 1RM (which is completely ignorant if you are NOT a powerlifter) then you should be doing partials in a safety rack.

If you need to be spotted on a deadlift and you are (trying) to be a bodybuilder....

(Wait for it)

I'm not certain if there is a proper way to spot on a deadlift, but I'd love to try and learn with you Chaos. Merry Christmas.

Tip: you can say anything gay and it won't count as long as you follow it up with "Merry Christmas."

I thought the reason for a spot was to make sure the lifter didnt' get stuck under the weight during a failed rep attempt.  pretty tough to do during a deadlift.
Yeah I don't understand why anyone would ever need a spotter for a lift where you can just PUT THE WEIGHT DOWN.
That said, the only people who ever ask me to spot them at the gym are ladybabes and jacked dudebabes who for some reason don't trust the twinks triathletes flooding the weight room and figure I must be better than no spot at all.  So pretty much any excuse to get unprofessionally close to either is cool.  Oh you need a spot for your lift, stud?  Whatever. Let me know if you also need one at the Smith machine...

Saw two weirdos doing it in my gym once...the funny part was that they were doing partials inside the power rack too. I normally don't stare, unless it's the chick w/the amazing onion booty that wears yoga pants  and does stiff legged deads right next to the preloaded curl bar rack but I stood there until they finished, so that I could show my disapproval.

if someone asks you if you can spot them; look at them dead serious, point at them and say....

'sure I can, there you are!!!!'   and walk away

Why bother spotting a DL? Either you can lift it or not... if not, you drop the weight.  Not like a bench thatll crush you into the bench or a squat that may blow out your knees... just dump the weight

As previously mentioned, having somebody around in case you pass out is not a terrible idea.

:). For some reason it's actually kinda common in India, I'm not sure if they do it to save the platform or the plates. Silly thing to do though.

Anyone of the strength enthusiasts here ever do top down deadlifts?

I think that Benni Magnusson said he did them, I think he called them Jet method deads.

I can max at least 50lbs more top down. Before anyone says how stupid is that, would you consider starting your bench max from the chest and 90 degree angle on the squat? :D

Jeff Jet Deadlifts -

.

That shows the easiest way to do them. They come and they go in popularity here in the States. Most people do seem to have luck with them, but drop them due to not having willing training partners.
