Nah, I did them when I became 50 because I felt like it , also I thought that I would have to be in good shape, if I had a barbell tatoo in my shoulder otherwise it would look rediculous 8)
That's cool, man. Good fysique.

neither are olympic sports . bodybuilding is more or less a sport and powerlifting is plagued by too much supportive stuff

Powerlifting with all the gimmicks they use to lift is just nonsense. I saw a powerlifting friend in the gym who is about 5'6" and 180lbs tell me he can bench 405lbs. He first put on his power lifting shirts that looked like a straight jacket. He bent his body into an inverted V. He took a deep breath. His range of motion was just about nothing. His elbow joint barely bent at the lowest point. Just nonsense. He can't do more push ups than me. Using a hammer strength bench where he can't cut the range of motion he can't do 4-45lbs a side on the machine because he can't budge the weight from the starting point.

Low half squat that power lifters are calling a full squat with a suit is also bs. I watch these guys "squatting" 650 plus and they don't have enough power in their legs to touch the rim of a basketball rim.  What good is the "power" they are developing?

The sumo deadlift is used so they can cut the range of motion.

The real sport of strength is Olympic lifting. Pick up a bar from the floor and put it over head. No gimmicks. You need strength and power to complete the lift. Any football player who starts doing power cleans can back me up that they saw an immediate gain in jumping and sprinting ability. When an Olympic lifter squats they bury it. They don't do a hip lock as Mike Bridges use to call squats.

Geared power lifting and raw power lifting are two different sports.

I'd like to rant about bodybuilder wannabes and other goons in the gym who do plenty of olympic lifts in their training programs.  These guys use the excuse of "powerlifters are BIG!" as their sole reason for training with weight that's way too heavy for them for low reps...because powerlifters are big.

Well.  I tell ya what.  I'm all for keeping basics like benches, squats and deads in a bodybuilding program...that's smart.  But going for singles, doubles, triples...wtf?

There's a reason you never see a ripped powerlifter.  Train like a powerlifter, look like a powerlifter.  Train like a bodybuilder, you'll look like a bodybuilder.  For some reason you just never see these guys in the gym dieted down, nor do they look anything other than a big bulk of mass.

At least be honest with yourself and admit that you train for strength and not much else.  That I can respect.  But shitting on bodybuilding methods because so-and-so powerlifter has with huge legs trains heavy with low reps is foolish.

That is all.
in other words

"im a big fat idiot who doesnt know when to put the fork down, because im such a fat swine ,i will declare myself powerlifter so ppl know that i do some kind of sports"

really one of the dumber ones on getbig

I've said it before. I could train powerlifting for 6 weeks and become quite wealthy on the senior natural powerlifting circuit.
