I noticed, and maybe it's just because it's winter games, but there are not many people of color in the traditional "white" countries, i.e.  Western European.

Actually, they could be. Russia has issues with homosexuality....I believe they outlawed it (like that can work)! I read where some gay and other athletes were planning on boycotting the Olympics because of Russia's laws.
