This diet works on chemical breakdown and is proven. Do not vary or substitute any of the above foods. salt and pepper may be used, but do not use any other seasoning. diet is to be used three days at a time.

In three days you should lose 10 pounds. After three days of dieting, you can eat your normal foods, but do not over do it. After four days of normal eating, you may start back on the three day diet. You can lose up to 40 pounds in a month if this diet is followed precisely.

This is a safe diet.

REMEMBER: Do not eat/snack between any of the meals!

NOTE: Coffee or tea for the first two meals of Day 1 only. Water only from then on. Water intake is unlimited.

Hot dogs seem an odd item you would think they would say chicken breast or something to that effect.

I think it looks like something to try since it's only 3 days. Just wonder if the weight stays off. Say you lose 10lbs but 6 is water and glycogen that is still 4 lbs.

I thinks it's called the military diet because they use it to get a soldier to drop weight quick. Key word being weight. Does look like the 10lbs is mostly water and glycogen.

Also not sure about the chemical "Science" it's based on.

I was in the military and the diets they put people on didnt look anything like this.

Our dietw for 'fat bodies' (military lingo for anyone above approved weight/height guidelines, regardless of body comp, but they def go easier on muscular people than fatties) was basically all the fruit you want, very small protein, lots of complex carbs, no peanut butter, no artifical sugars, no dairy.

the subscribe to the 1950s high carb/low protein/ low fat approach. They probably call it the military diet bec because its next to nothing, which many military personell have gone through while out in the field under fire, etc..... or because its extreme and highly regimented,or because thats what they used to feed to inmates in military prisons.

I dont know. Lol

not some, just for being overly bulky... and it didnt really matter as long as you athletically perform... however in the eyes of the military/federal government, if youre over the approved weight/height chart, youre overweight and therefore a fat body requiring a 'weight waiver' to graduate from boot camp. Its different in the fleet. Military puts a high emphasis on being relatively strong and fast compared tp bodyweight,, and om being light and lean.

I don't understand?

This seems like a very reasonable, well balanced diet plan. The majority of the population would maintain a healthy weight if they followed such a diet. However I don't get what gives it special properties apart from portion control and the selection of good, healthy food sources?

you cant lose 4lbs of fat in three days if you dont eat anything.

Exactly. Every body has an upper limit to the rate at which their body can metabolise their own bodyfat stores for energy. I think in an average male of normal weight (around 70kg in the normal bodyfat range) it is around 900 kcal per 24 hour period. If their energy balance is in a deficit of more than 900 kcal, the body is making up the that deficit by slowing the metabolic rate (especially if the energy deficit is maintained over a prolonged period of time) and ultimately by metabolising lean tissue.
