Ophthalmologist says glasses worn by Clinton used to treat double vision

A New York ophthalmologist told FoxNews.com that special glasses former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was seen wearing last year are used to treat double vision, which is sometimes caused by severe head trauma.

Dr. Marc Werner explained the purpose of the Fresnel prism eyeglasses, like the ones Clinton wore, amid questions about the potential presidential candidate's health. The subject was raised after Karl Rove commented on her time in and out of the hospital in December 2012.

"In order to see one object, your eyes need to be pointed in the same direction. If your eyes are misaligned, one way to optically align them is to put a prism ... on your glasses," Werner said.

In late 2012, Clinton was suffering from a stomach virus when she fell at her home, struck her head and endured a concussion, according to her representatives. Doctors later discovered a blood clot behind her right ear. Werner says severe head trauma could have caused double vision and Clinton's need for Fresnel prism glasses.

"Any issue which raises intracranial pressure can damage one of the nerves which moves the eye around, and if it damages one of the nerves, your eyes will be misaligned -- maybe temporarily, maybe more permanently," Werner said.

Fox News analyst and former George W. Bush administration adviser Karl Rove recently defended comments he reportedly made saying Clinton's hospitalization would an issue should she run for president in 2016.

"This was a serious deal. She basically was out of action," Rove said Tuesday. "She spends over a month fighting this. ...And they're not particularly forthcoming."

Clinton's representatives, and husband, have defended her, saying she's "100 percent." Bill Clinton said earlier this week there's "nothing to" the health questions -- though at the same time, he revealed her recovery took about six months, which is much longer than the State Department had indicated.

When asked what he might look for given the chance to see Clinton's medical records, Dr. Werner said he would want to examine imaging studies.

"I would like to know what the results of any imaging studies were and the cause of why someone needed Fresnel," Werner said. "There are lots of different causes, anything from Myasthenia to Multiple Sclerosis to maybe a blood clot, these are all possible causes, but all we know is that she was using a Fresnel prism and therefore had double vision."

Why I enjoy this attempt at smearing Hillary is that I'm looking forward to teasing repubs about how an elderly dain-bramaged woman was able to kick the eventual repub candidate's ass in the televised debates...

I'll say, it's been shocking for me to see how Hillary's been recently portrayed in the news. Very interesting to see how the media plays their fiddle in this case. I'd always thought she was an established part of the machine, but you wouldn't know it by watching these reports.

Can't wait to see if another Obama-type comes "out of nowhere" to push her aside.

Look at Elizabeth Warren... she's 5 years younger than Hilary and look, speaks, acts like she's 20 years younger.  She could wreck Hilary in the debates with a simple "let's stop spending money, Hilary" and be as harsh as she wants - since another female blitzing hilary wouldn't be considered woman-bashing.

lets face it... repubs will probably put up an inept RINO with no clear vision who flipflops and is underwhemling... and FOX viewers will just blame tv channels nobody watches, if Hilary cleans his clock.

I think that speaks more about the American voters as a whole and other factors - particularly in the second election. Did you vote for Obama twice?

Hillary will likely win because of the MSM push on the large number low-information voters that comprise the modern day US electorate, and also playing the sexist card during the campaign and in debates. I'm also curious as to how many hoodrats will vote for her 10 times, how many dead people will vote for her, and if some voting machines in a few states will be defaulting votes for her opponent to her?  ???

THIS.

I'd say at least 51% of the nation is liberal, low-info, and quite possibly dumb.   nothing wrong with it.  I"m sure way more than 51% of the people are like this in many other countries.  There's NO WAY our country is majority conservative and hard working and high-info... look around in any public place.

Obama, hilary, NO WAY they'd be winning elecitons in a nation of 51% majority bright conservatives.

Since Reid and others like Soros are wanting to make changes to the Constitution now regarding political campaigns and the electoral process, I wonder if we shouldn't also change it so that no one votes while on public assistance, and that people in higher tax brackets get more votes?

Is it just me, ...or does anyone else find it odd that the discussion is about Hillary Clinton as heir?
Do we not always see the Vice President, ...especially a two term Vice President become the party candidate?

Where does Biden fit into all of this? Does he not want a kick at the can?

And tell me 240, ...what would be your analysis of a potential Clinton/Warren ticket?

if warren would agree to run with clinton...

could be unbeatable.  A tale of two fibbers, sure... but yeah, two women woudl get a TON of women votes, would tip things a bit.  hilary on military/economy and warren on setting bankers straight, yeah it coudl be a brutal ticket to beat.

Biden?  He's comparatively poor... dude wants to speak on lectures for 2 years and make $10 mil.  He's been muzzled for 8 years and it ready to get chatty lol.  He won't run, nope.  Could only hurt his value.  I think he was barely worth 250k when he ran in 2008, after 40 years in senate?  Dude needs to go speak for $ now to get his value up.

I suspect if Clinton can get past the Republican effort to derail her potential candidacy, I could see it as a formidable ticket. Hillary tackling foreign policy, with Warren handling domestic issues.

I could see it happening. Clinton & Merkel sitting together with Christine Laguarde, ironing out differences with the heads of Brazil & Argentina... I get the feeling that the women would actually get together to solve a lot of problems.

With all due respect, you don't strike me as that naïve.  You believe the women, unlike their male counterparts, would aspire to solve problems for the greater good?   Hitlary's reputation precedes her.  She would do about as good of a job as President, as Yellen will do as Chair of the Federal Reserve.   This fallacy of, "if only women were in charge", is just that, a fallacy.  A politician is a politician.  And they have the sullied reputations they do for a reason, whether they have a penis, or a vagina.

I can appreciate that perspective, ...especially when it comes to someone like Hillary Clinton, however, while she is technically a woman, ...she thinks and acts like a man. (That's not really a point in her favour btw), ...however, much like the rest of the world is doing now, I can see other women leaders isolating her were she to continue down the same path as her predecessors. I could see the Europeans & the South Americans edging her out if she didn't play ball for the planetary good, leaving her no choice but to co-operate with the rest of the world. Should Clinton get elected, it will be no doubt in large part to a female demographic who will expect certain things.

If there is one thing about women... we have long memories, and if she didn't deliver on "women's issues" the fall out would be horrendous with both male & female voters. Think about it... Whether we like it or not, we often reserve a special kind of scorn for women we perceive as cold hearted. Men are classified as 'tough' & 'being able to make the hard decisions'... whereas women who do the same are simply referred to as 'cold hearted bitches' She will have to do something to move us all forward, or safeguard future generations... some sort of children's initiative.

I could also see Angela Merkel squishing her like a bug if she got too uppity. No way Merkel or Laguarde will tolerate some upstart trying to establish herself as the most powerful woman on the planet. Merkel and Laguarde may go back and forth on that title, ...but no way will they let Clinton try it on for size.

All valid points.  I guess you could say I'm cynical when it comes to politicians in general.  Virtually the only politician I've ever come across that has been steadfast in his positions regardless of audience, with a common sense approach, has been Ron Paul.  The rest, regardless of race, gender, or political affiliation, have played the same games as their predecessors and propagated the same corrupt system.  I find it bemusing that people still debate partisan politics.  As if it makes any difference in the end whether the leader is Republican or Democrat.  Same shit, different pile.

Karl Rove shocks Fox News panel by doubling down on Hillary’s ‘brain injury'

Republican strategist Karl Rove stunned Fox News panelists on Sunday when he refused to stop suggesting that Hillary Clinton had a “brain injury” even after his own party had shunned him for the personal attack.

On Fox News Sunday, Fox News contributor Juan Williams asked Rove if he was actually helping Hillary Clinton with his recent remarks that generated headlines insinuating that she was too “brain damaged” to run for president.

“I’m not the person who said brain damage!” Rove insisted. “A concussion is by definition a traumatic brain injury.”

“Karl! Come one!” Fox News contributor Kirsten Power claimed.

“So is a blood clot in the brain,” Rove added. “My point is this, she’s a human being. You would not be human, and not have a serious brain injury — like this was — and take it into consideration if you’re thinking about going and doing what she might do.”

“This was concern for her?” Fox New host Chris Wallace asked.

“Yeah,” Rove replied. “Concern as one human being to another, but I’m more concerned about people who say, ‘You know, she’s in, this is a done deal.’ I’m not so certain. My brain says she’s running, my gut says this is going to be far more serious.”
