Conventional Bodybuilding Diet Question - Vegetarian
« on: May 21, 2014, 12:12:37 PM »
What would be the best time to throw in a small vegetarian/carb meal? (no homo)

Morning, evening, pre/post workout?

Don't ask

Is this going to be egg/dairy free?

FWIW, I eat a block of tofu most nights of the week.  50g of cheap protein, quite tasty when pan-fried in coconut oil

Cool, sounds good. I don't eat any gluten or dairy. Lots of meat though. I just want to throw in a vegetarian meal because that's what I need more of. Just not sure what time it's most beneficial to eat that.

Do you eat vegetables with your meals?  If not, that's probably a good place to start

Beyond that, you might wish to have a vegetable smoothie in the afternoon if you normally eat a snack there.  Kale/spinach, celery, cucumber, ginger, lemon juice, avocado, flax seed--or any combination thereof.  Very satiating.  Toss an apple in there if you wanna sweeten it a bit.

Thanks for the advice! I do try to have vegetables with every meal.

Yes, very refreshing.  I usually can't be bothered to prepare vegetables so smoothies like that are how I get most of my greens.

Plus it's a handy way to consume other good stuff--like ginger, flaxseed, lemon juice--that can be tricky to incorporate otherwise.

I'd probably save the meat for the evenings. Actually no homo  :-\

Meat takes a lot of energy to digest, this way you'll have all night to do so
