Never thought I would say this, but kudos to CNN for uncovering the lie. I know that 15 shootings is still unacceptable, but it is clear that there was an effort by the anti-gun idiots to make it seem that there was an epidemic. Lying like that doesn't help any cause.

CNN) -- After Tuesday's shooting at an Oregon high school, many media outlets, including CNN, reported that there have been 74 school shootings in the past 18 months.

That's the time period since the December 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where 20 children and six adults were shot to death.

The statistic came from a group called Everytown for Gun Safety, an umbrella group started by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a passionate and public advocate of gun control.

Without a doubt, that number is startling.

Everytown says on its web site that it gleans its information from media reports and that its list includes school shootings involving a firearm discharged inside or on school grounds, including assaults, homicides, suicides and accidental shootings.

CNN determined that 15 of the incidents Everytown included were situations similar to the violence in Newtown or Oregon -- a minor or adult actively shooting inside or near a school. That works out to about one such shooting every five weeks, a startling figure in its own right.

It is more telling than you guys want to admit. As much as the libs in chicago want to pretend the guns themselves are the sourslce of their problems, that is bullshit. Chicago doesnt have a Gun problem, they have a Gang problem.

These chicago libs whine about 'oh our gun laws are so effective, its just that they can get them from that pesky Indiana!!!' Well if guns are the problem..and they are coming from indiana..then why isnt indiana a war zone?? Oh thats right, cause the problem is your GANGS, not the guns themselves.

You bring up the good point that, if bad folks in Illinois are part of the problem, why make it possible for guns to be sold to them in neighboring states?

My point, though, is even more basic.  Why is Dario assuming that gun control in Chicago isn't working at all?  Who's to say that, absent any gun control laws there, that the violence wouldn't be several times greater?

If the gun violence is a big deal, then steps to curb it should be multi-faceted and yet respectful of the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

I don't own a gun so I'm fairly ignorant of what the current rules are but I don't see why folks would have much of a problem with registering every firearm and being required to adhere to certain laws related to selling their guns.

If you choose 2 million people from Florida with our gun permits, and you drop us into the middle of Chicago, and let us live there for a year... we clean shit up fast.   There will be a year of justified shootings, and then bad guys will learn not to pull this shit on 'citizens'.  They'll drive elsewhere or, more likely, feast on each other, not 'citizens'. 

Bad guys here still pull shit, but do you know where they pull it?  Usually it's in the poor, high crime areas that they know - because more people there have felony arrests and can't legally carry/defend.  Even a justified shoot, they can't have the gun to begin with.  So they shoot at each other - and ya know what - we cannot stop that.  It's human nature.  Packs of criminals will live/work/love/fight together - we cannot change that.  Just let that go... until they try it on your block, then you fcking blast them back to the stone ages the moment they bring crime to your block.  Keep pushing them out of your town.

on the other hand - bad guys know... you come over here where we rednecks buy groceries, and yes, you will catch a bullet in the chest if you start grabbing a piece and making threats or "mugging" people.  I laugh at the strongarm muggings... that shit doesn't happen.  When it does spill over, the market quickly corrects it as a bad guy or three is caught/shot by an armed bystander.
