Roger had been in declining health for years. In fact, Floyd opened up about Roger's health back in 2015 and blamed boxing for damaging his brain.

"My uncle Roger Mayweather has lost a lot of memory from the sport of boxing," Floyd said ... "He's only in his 50s, but it seems like he's an old man in his 80s."

A few years ago, Roger went missing -- and fortunately, he was located by law enforcement officials.

We're told Floyd was close with Roger and is deeply emotional about his passing.

RIP.  Now we know why Floyd retired early with his health intact.

RIP Rodger..

As said has been very unwell for some time, he's probably been in care the last couple of years. Mind was gone very sad. Shows what negative effects boxing can have.

Well, punch a computer repeatedly, and what would people expect the result to be? Thing will get busted and stop functioning properly. At best.

Terrific fighter.  A poor man's Tommy Hearns and I mean that as a compliment.  Unfortunate that he had to run into both Chavez and Tszyu when they were each in their primes.  RIP.

Not even close

It's something like 80%* of boxers will show the debilitating effect of CTE and related illnesses vs around 20%* for American football players. *give or take a few percentage points. I forget the exact reasoning why, but it has to with the types of rotational hits encountered in boxing vs football, and also the type of musculature, particularly in the neck and trap region, found in football players vs boxers.

He never recovered from the beating Charlie Z gave him.

You have him mixed up with Floyd Mayweather Sr and he took Charlie to school.

It's the accumulation of punches .
