I have a loved one battling nephrotic syndrome. Got thru the initial mess of edema and hospital stay for a week, came home, started to cycle off the meds, and protein spiked recently.... 200+ (he was 13,000 at nephrotic peak). He'd been down to safe levels for almost a week and was believed to be in full remission. Then it spiked 200. Into that mid zone, accompanied with about 4 pounds of water bloat.
So what I'm researching (and waiting for full urinalysis to arrive in a day)
What factors affect protein spikes in the urine?
Stress? (I read about a case where kid's urine spiked a day after kids dog died)
Sodium? (Nothing definitive, but I'm seeing high sodium days lead to high urine count?)
Any others? Any advice to give? Doc is all over it, and in a day or so will have medicine recommendations (prednosole currently + just cycled off lasix) but wanted to see TO WHAT EXTENT the extrenal factors - stress, diet, sleep, exercise, water consumption- affect the protein content in urnie (albium, I believe). Thanks so much ):
