He wants to divert attention to the fact that the Cowboys are going to be terrible this year.

Report: Josh Brent conditionally reinstated by NFL, can return to play Week 11

Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Josh Brent has been conditionally reinstated by the NFL, meaning he's eligible to return to play by Week 11, according to NFL.com report.

The report also says Brent is allowed to visit Valley Ranch after Week and, in Week 9, he can practice.

Brent, who retired in July 2013, last played Dec. 2, 2012. Six days later, on Dec. 8, he was involved in a single-car crash on the State Highway 114 frontage road in Irving. The passenger in the 2007 Mercedes traveling at least 110 mph was Brent’s close friend, 25-year-old Cowboys practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown Jr. He died in the accident when the car hit a curb and spun out of control, court testimony later revealed. Tests showed Brent's blood alcohol content after the wreck was 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit for driving.

Brent was sentenced last January to 180 days in jail and 10 years of probation after being convicted of intoxication manslaughter. Brent was released from jail June 15 and allowed to spend the final 45 days of his jail sentence in rehabilitation.

On July 29, Brent, 26, was discharged from EnterHealth, an alcohol and drug treatment center in Van Alstyne.

A day later, Brent’s agent Peter Schaffer said, “He has decided he would like to continue his NFL career if the Cowboys will have him and the NFL will take him back.”

Doctors and clinicians, according to Schaffer, said it would be in Brent's best interest to return to football. And Schaffer acknowledged that Brent was given the blessing of Brown’s mother, Stacey Jackson, to resume his career.

With the support of others, he started training at a fitness center in the Dallas area and met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Aug. 7 in New York to discuss his reinstatement. The powwow with Goodell, according to a source, went well.

As Brent was forging ahead in his effort to return to the league, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team was in the defensive tackle’s corner and would create a roster spot for him if he were reinstated.

“Once he gets out here, I’m sure he’ll be able to help our defense in the middle of that line,” safety Barry Church said in July. “We need all the help we can get.”

But it’s uncertain how much Brent can contribute. In 39 career games, the former seventh-round supplemental draft pick recorded 1 ˝ sacks and played in a different defensive scheme than the 4-3 system the Cowboys currently use.

“Those guys in a 3-4 play what we call a 0-nose, where you play head up and sometimes in a 3-4 scheme you play on the edge of that center," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said.

"So we play both in this scheme. We'll play a 0-nose in our four-man line, and we'll also play off of that nose a little bit, shaded, so he's done that as part of his experience both at the pro level and the college level."

Cowboys 3-13

That's about what I'm thinking too.

The Dallas Cowboys is a "for-profit" organization.  That's always going to be part of anyone bringing in someone on the team.  They want to increase sales in merchandise and tickets.  So yes, having Michael Sam on the team is a marketing strategy.

However, I've already stated in the last post that Michael Sam would likely be picked up by a team with a shitty defense and the Dallas Cowboys have one of the shittiest ones out there....there are high school football teams with a better defense than the Cowboys.  It would have been stupid for them to pass up on someone who can go out and beat some ass just because he's gay.

Tebow's stock had already passed and the Cowboys don't need a quarterback.  Its half and half with marketing and actual playing.  But to say that Sam was picked because he was gay is ridiculous....he clearly proved that he could hang in the NFL when other said he was too small.

Being on the practice team will allow him to juice up and get bigger which is all he needs to do

Actually tebow's stock wasn't passed at the time, the patriots picked him up

The cowboys actually need to groom a fresh young qb after romo , not trade for 30+ yr old back ups

Tebow stock is done.  That's why he isn't playing.  And I'd take an experienced backup anyday over a rookie quarterback....especiall y one that does coke lines like Manziel
