Sounds like the author is searching for things to offend her, inventing innovative angles and whatnot. Whatever.
But back to my original issue with this video. Some of these fellas simply said hello and she (I think) rudely ignored them. You are from the city, though, and suggest hello is never really just hello. I'll accept your word on this, but it strengthens my opinion that the city's people really suck.
Question: Do you think the city makes people assholes or are assholes merely attracted to the city? Not mixing you personally into all this, just seems you're honest and quite familiar with NYC culture.
No, the city's people don't really suck. They're just normal people put into an area with greater anonymity since there are more people. I can't speak for NYC, only my city
If you're from a small town or a suburb, you'd probably say hello to most people. Why? Because you'll run into the same people everywhere. Your neighbor two doors down would consider it rude if you don't say hello after making eye contact in the grocery store.
If you're in an urban area and walking down the street, who the hell are you going to greet? If you have three people walking towards you, are you going to say hi to all three people? No. If you do what you do in the suburbs or rural areas when you're in a city, you'd be greeting dozens of people every day.
There would have to be a pretty good reason for you to say hi to a stranger on the street in the city, which is why some of us are saying "hello is never just hello"
