Of course a free market can exist...and the US is far from "the most liberal places on the planet". Economically speaking Hong Kong has far more freedom for business. Your original comment that "poor people are fucked by a free market" is what I'm responding too. A free market creates competition and innovation. These two qualities provide what the customer or "poor people" really want. 1. Lower costs and 2. better services.It's in a command economy where the poor are shut out from participating. The Government provides large companies the legal basis to own monopolies. Those monopolies set prices and control innovation to protect their investments...NOT to provide the customer the best service at the lowest prices.
