A world without steroids would mean the vast majority of the bigger/stronger guys would have an iron clad work ethic and also be students of their given sport, with the occasional genetic freak slipping thru the cracks here and there. Instead of many a lazy slob jabbing a needle into their ass to compensate for the lack of said qualities.

Imagine a world without steroids - how many more people would die in hospitals if they didn't get the steroids they needed to get better faster.  So many people use steroids to get better after surgeries!

Imagine how boring some of the baseball, football, hockey and other sports would of been if steroids were not around.

Oh well..

The sport of bodybuilding is based on drug use. No drugs equal no sport. Bodybuilding magazines wouldn't exist because they couldn't use steroid guys as their example of their supplements. There would be a few contests held mainly in high school auditoriums. The sport might have had a name change from bodybuilding to physical culture. Training the heart muscle would be just as important as bicep training. Guy doing bodybuilding would actually be used as an example of a healthy activity. Imagine lifting and doing cardio without drugs?  It would held in such high regard for it's health benefits.

Sports would still exist with the same popularity. Football, baseball, olympic lifting, wrestling, boxing and all the rest would still be here. In football the front line would be about 265 to 275lbs instead of the universal 300lbs plus line. The sport would be just as exciting. Instead of approaching the 600lbs barrier in the clean and jerk it would be the 500lbs barrier.

Hockey would likely be better off. The action based nature of the game would stand out better in natural competition.

Also juicing causes the sport to implement rules to moderate the fast paced hard hitting nature of the game.

Goals per game would go up, as would the number of star talent.

when do you figure that use of steroids became widespread in baseball and hockey?

doubt that fans of those sports thought the games were boring pre-roids.

Probably around 9.8-9.9 - they ran around 10.2 before roids were created

What year were they running 10.20?... Be carefull of the records as they used to run 100 yards...

Just few examples of drug free bodybuilders :

Eugène Sandow (born 1867) :

Marcel Rouet (born 1909)

Robert Duranton (born 1926)

Georges Hackenshmidt (born 1878)

Probably around 9.8-9.9 - they ran around 10.2 before roids were created

Ben Johnson ran 10.22 in 1984 to get Bronze at the Olympics after juicing 3 years. He couldn't run under 10.50 naturally, and he is the greatest ever they have sped up the tracks since then.

Your post highlights how people think bodybuilding is all drugs but other sports it's not as significant when it is.
