All the pros in the 70's and early 80's cycled on and off the drugs.

Rich Gaspari was the very first person I heard of using gear year round, about 1984, doing 200cc of deca in his "off cycle". Quinn was an 80's guy so it is very possible he cycled off....

yeah, they cycled on and off, used low dosages and looked GREAT.

rather look like an 80's BB than the ones today, and seemed like low safe doses!

Mike was a better bodybuilder than the impression he gave. VERY knowledgable. In seminar he was superb. Definately didn't cycle in off-season. Was pretty fat and legs looked un-trained. Arms and back always there though. I sincerely hope he is well.

Yeah, that is what happenes when you get some one who does not have a high level of maturity and combine it with BIG money.

Mike Christian was being paid $225K per year-and all he had to do was train and make some public appearances-easy job in 1991-92.

Mike started buying smack and got very addicted in late 91. If you saw the 92 WBF show he came in at about 190#-at 6'1-6'2.

Mike did get cleaned up-I saw him at the OC Muscle Classic in 95 or so and he looked great-and very big again.

At Gold's Venice, we used to watch Mike Christian go from a soft 205 to a tight and vascular 235 in 35 or 40 days. Dude could gain muscle faster than anyone I ever saw. Ever.

Customary retelling of the time Quinn got himself in a nasty jam since it's missing from this thread -

"Michael Quinn never saw the blow coming. The five-foot eight-inch, 270-pound former Mr. Universe was sitting in the nightclub Liquid with a young couple the night of June 25, 1996. After the woman, who was white, borrowed a hat from a black man, Quinn told her to "give the black his hat back." Then BAM! A beer bottle slammed into Quinn's face. The bodybuilder struggled to stay conscious, but he crumpled to the floor. Then someone repeatedly kicked him.

The bottle-wielding attacker wasn't the cap's owner, Quinn recounts. It was Liquid proprietor Chris Paciello. Quinn, who now is ashamed at having used the racist term, sued the nightclub and Paciello in 1996. The trial was scheduled to begin this month, but on November 23 a federal grand jury in New York indicted Paciello for robbery and murder. Prosecutors say he was involved in a mob-affiliated gang, known as the Bath Avenue Crew, that was responsible for a series of brutal murders and robberies in the early Nineties.

Paciello's connection with gangsters may explain a few things. Peter Mineo, Quinn's Fort Lauderdale attorney, says a witness to the attack suddenly disappeared. "We're having a hard time locating her," Mineo says. "She had agreed to give a deposition, but she never showed up. Someone overheard her telling a friend that Chris Paciello offered to bribe her not to testify." Another explanation for the witness's reticence comes from champion boxer Vinny Pazienza, who is a friend of Quinn: "I got a call from an acquaintance. He told me to tell Mike to back off because these are bad people and something could happen to him." (Paciello's attorneys declined to comment on the case.)".

35 yrs ago, I competed in Mike Quinn's 1st contest, the AAU Mr Bay State, Worcester, Mass.
I was in the open men and big Mike was still a teen (19?).

I remember being very impressed with his delts when he was doing overhead pump up presses backstage.
Mike had that wild, intense look in his eyes at that young an age.

The teen division was packed with 25-30 guys and Mike won his ht class.
In the overall he lost to Tony Lopes ( tall class) .
Victor Terra won the short class teen and would go on to be a Nabba Universe winner.

I was in the men's open medium tall class and ended up 6th.
I remember being beaten out for 4th, 5th by 2 older more ripped dudes.
Thus ,no trophy for me.

New England area champion Len Archembault guest posed.
He posed to the theme from Star Wars and the MC held a cassette recorder up to the mic. 100% serious.
He was the only guy to pose to music being the guest poser.

I disagree. Nothing he said in this video makes him appear delusional or disturbed.
He seems completely in touch with reality and has a lifetime passion for hardcore bodybuilding.

I have run into and trained with Mike many times over the last 25 years in South Florida. Mike is definitely the most open honest Pro BBR I have ever spoken to by a long shot. He has spoken openly about psych issues and med's he is and was on. Definitely possessed one of the greatest upper bodies ever in Bodybuilding. His back, arms, delts, rival anyone in any era of Bodybuilding.

Christian said he got 300k a year with the WBF. He cited that he would just look at his check and stare at it. He also complained about getting fined a month's pay ($25,000) for failing a drug test leading up to the 1992 WBF Championship.
