I'm 45, vote, pay taxes, and haven't worn a uniform and name badge or punched a time clock for over 2 decades.

I apologize if my drier, acerbic wit and slightly caustic worldliness and insight rub some (most?) getbiggers the wrong way.

one quality I generally value in people is happiness and self-confidence. Happy and confident people are fun to be around even though they are not super intelligent.

That is definitely Basile. He seem pretty self-confident, despite being abused here lol.

People have a right to opinions, so I can respect that. I have told you before, that I think your sense/judgment of humor is terrible.

That doesn't mean some of the guys you ranked highly aren't funny, but all someone has to do is check out your "Greatest/funniest posts" thread, to see your lack of recognizing real humor. (For the most part)

Having a university degree does not make one "intelligent" any more than copy / pasting google search items on internet forums 20 hours a day does. Or any more than leasing a high end car or buying a shiny piece of jewelry makes one "rich".

I am pretty active in some of my Alma mater's activities such as the alumni association, and I have made donations to my university and what have you. I have known and interacted with many graduates, faculty members, PhD's, MD's, and various other "academic" types.

I can tell you that most engineers are very smart and knowledgeable people with lots of common sense. Most academics in the business schools who have real world experience also tend to be very sharp on those levels that count when it comes to making money - people skills, facts and figures, analytical skills, etc. And oddly enough the criminal justice types who have real world experience in their fields are very smart when it comes to knowing people. And people are the key to everything for just about all of us - somebody has to buy that drug, widget, or software you geeks design in your labs.

I know PhD's who can split atoms but can barely put gas in their cars and find their way home from work. And MD's who can perform complex surgeries but cannot balance a checkbook. I never got past the BS level in college, but I know how to make a buck or 2. And I know guys who never set foot on a college campus (other than to donate money) who make me feel dumb and are among the richest people in the country.
