Question about caloric maintenence?
« on: May 31, 2015, 03:24:08 PM »
So say you diet, for 12-14 weeks you cut about 500-700 off maintenance per day for your size and TDEE.

Then you eat at maintenance again on week 15, so back to 2600 or so per day.

Will your body use the extra 500 and store it as fat? Ive heard people slowly raising cals by like 10 a day or something, but i wasnt sure if after 12 weeks your body has already totally adjusted and uses the diet cal amount of 2000 as your baseline? Or is that short enough time that your body will not have adjusted its baseline requirements?

Reverse dieting takes away the whole f'in purpose of dieting, lol...The rebound phase! I can't imagine ever pulling that off. But I've never ended a cut after say just taking away 5-700 cals, the just reducing 200gr of carbs from my total already takes off 800 cals and that is how i start my diet.

In the end, I would not be lean enough to warrant reverse dieting and doubt it will work for you as I have much better genetics to pull this off.

I don't know man, as the method used you describe is yet again, something I would never do nor have I seen many get good results by just cutting so few cals.

What you describe here is a mere start of something, not the whole plan, and even if you had the whole plan, you may still not end up following it due to adjustments been made...

Yeah i feel ya, i basically was probably consuming 3000 kcals a day and went to 2200 then to 2000, now im at 2000 so basically 1k from where i was pre-diet. Weight still coming off. I dont want to rebound as after 4 weeks of that method im already mad i let myself do that, like last time. Not gonna happen. As an endo, im starting to look good and never want to look like shit again. Obviously i cant maintain 2000cals year round, so i plan to diet back up slowly, probably by 100 cals per week. So 15 or so per day, until i get back to 2600 or so. The idea here is to still look "dieted" if thats possible after SLOWLy ramping up, as that is the whole premise behind it apparently

Well, if that's the plan, keep us posted. I think for an endo, it could be a good choice.
