The secret to work ethic
« on: June 03, 2015, 03:28:52 AM »
What is the secret to work ethic and ability to highly educate themselves among Indians, Arabs and Asians. They seem like they are out working us so I'm just curious of the cultural aspects and strategies they use.

Bodybuilding related because dubai india.

They are definitely out working typical white male/female North Americans.  Not myself per se as I'm a workaholic but overall definitely. At the end of the day I own a software development company and they work for me. So who is the winner?

Asians and Indians are hungrier, not as spoiled and are willing to tolerate more hardships.

I don't why you included Arabs on that list.

All 1st gen immigrants are hard workers because they leave their home country for opportunity in better places and are willing to work harder. That goes for 99% of nationalities.

All this Indian and Asian bs being highly educated is crap. Sure seems like a lot of them are doctors and PhDs. But it's all numbers. India has over a billion people. So does China. Huge poverty rates in those countries. If they're so smart why don't they stay there and improve their living situation at home?

Compare that to usa with population around 300 million.

Most Asians in my neck of the woods only own donut shops or nail places.
Sure they work hard... for the 98 cents I pay for donut holes.

THE BEEF

Related to this is the way generation from generation live. Many of the indian families that live in my neighborhood have multiple families living in the same household. They basically pool all of their money together and live under one roof, often including grandparents. This is not aytpical in Indian and Asian families. Me and my pops were looking to put my grandmother in an assisted living home and visited about 10 of them. I kid you not, I don't think I saw one elderly Indian or Asian person in any of these homes. Speaking to someone who I know is Asian, she said it is unheard of to put your parent in one of these homes. They always go live with the children. Often happens in Indian families. White kids just throw their parent into any place lol. That is why in America you rarely ever see any homeless asian or indian people. All of this may or may not have something to do work ethic. However, if you're only making 30K a year, but have 12 family members all pooling their resources into one household, it could put on the outward appearance of being successful or having a strong work ethic. Or maybe they just are.

Bad fathers?

Probably the opposite.  These cultures place more of a premium on family.  And the Dads provide examples of hard work that the kids can follow.  They also have expectations for education rather than just effectively abandoning their kids by going on facebook all day long.

This was all covered in that scene in Pumping Iron about the two wolves on the hill and how the one climbing the hill is more hungry.

Good parenting and family structure.  The parents push their kids hard.  The children are not allowed to fail.

THE BEEF

^^^This.  There's a billion of them all living in heavily religious cultures with stringent social caste systems and 3rd world poverty.  If you want to eat you have to distinguish yourself from the faceless horde behind you waiting for you to F'up so they can have your job.  I admire the work ethic and tenacity but my personal experience working with those folks is they tend to tell you what you want to hear, suck up, and ruthlessly protect their jobs and their friend's jobs.  I've seen it a lot of unethical business behavior.
