Anyone catch the Hannibal series on NBC?
« on: December 09, 2014, 12:41:28 AM »
I just wrapped the second season; I am a huge fan of the franchise, and I have to admit that it exceeds expectations.

Samuel L. Jackson plays a mean Jack Crawford.

ABsolutely love it, trippy part is I had a pyschopath boss at the time. Real trippy shit in real life.

The pyscology in this shit is so fucking real, even the part of will gram having advanced empathy through autism.

I think its the best show going at the moment.

Ah yes, I thought for sure Morgan L Snipes was going to kill him.

It doesn't stick closely to the books/film series, though.

I'm glad, otherwise when it gets to the Red Dragon season etc it would be predictable, I have no problem with them changing it up.First season I found a little slow, 2nd was superb though. Not sure what's going on with Gillian Anderson character leaving with Hannibal on the plane, did you see that clip after the finale credits rolled?

Love the show but there is a big homosexual vibe in it.  I guess Hannibal was a homo? I loved that they showed the story of the rich guy eating his own face, hahaha.  Brilliant how some people can just mind fuck others.

Great show, sometimes very slow. Will Smith does a good job in his role though...

Are they even doing another season?  Isn't Sidney Poitier now doing that Blackish comedy on ABC?

NBC's 'Hannibal' Canceled After Three Seasons

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/hannibal-canceled-at-nbc-804239

The current third season of the Bryan Fuller drama will be its last.

NBC is closing the book on Hannibal.

The network has canceled Bryan Fuller's Silence of the Lambs prequel series after three seasons. The full 13-episode third season will run its course on Thursdays at 10 p.m., concluding Aug. 27.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that there may have been a rights issue at the center of the decision to end the series as Fuller had wanted to introduce Clarice Starling in season four, with the rights to the character previously portrayed by Jodie Foster said to be unavailable. Producers Gaumont TV are currently exploring options to find another home for the series, with EP Martha DeLaurentiis confirming as much via Twitter.

“NBC has allowed us to craft a television series that no other broadcast network would have dared, and kept us on the air for three seasons despite Cancelation Bear Chow ratings and images that would have shredded the eyeballs of lesser Standards & Practices enforcers," Fuller said in a statement. "[NBC Entertainment exec] Jen Salke and her team have been fantastic partners and creatively supportive beyond measure. Hannibal is finishing his last course at NBC’s table this summer, but a hungry cannibal can always dine again. And personally, I look forward to my next meal with NBC.”

Added NBC in a statement: “We have been tremendously proud of Hannibal over its three seasons. Bryan and his team of writers and producers, as well as our incredible actors, have brought a visual palette of storytelling that has been second to none in all of television — broadcast or cable. We thank [producers] Gaumont and everyone involved in the show for their tireless efforts that have made Hannibal an incredible experience for audiences around the world.”

The drama starring Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen returned June 4 with 2.57 million total viewers before slipping to a series low the following week when only 1.66 million tuned in against competition from the NBA Finals. The series has been a hit with critics, who praised Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls) for pushing the boundaries of broadcast television with the show's graphic and visually creative deaths.

Hannibal had been one of NBC's fall-to-summer bridge series as more broadcasters continued to program originals year-round. NBC thus far has focused on imports and co-productions to fill its summer roster, while other networks like CBS focus on pricey sci-fi fare a la Under the Dome and the upcoming Zoo.

Fuller, meanwhile, has already lined up his next gig. Starz recently greenlit Neil Gaiman adaptation American Gods to series with Fuller serving as a co-showrunner on the urban fantasy novel that was previously in development at HBO. The move to cancel Hannibal ends Fuller's relationship with NBC, where he previously produced a reboot of The Munsters, whose pricey series pilot ultimately aired as a Halloween movie after the project was scrapped.

Season 3 is a huge turd so far, I think the guy knew before he started making 3 that it wasn't going to get picked up.

They had to cancel it.  Season 3 is the intro to Red Dragon with Francis Dollarhyde, then they were hoping to jump into Silence of the Lambs but they couldn't secure the rights to it.  They've been trying for over a year.  Since they couldn't get the rights and the ratings sucked it was the deathbell for this show.  This season will transition into Red Dragon which should be good.  They even got Games of Thrones Director to do the shows.

i couldnt get into it tbh, Anthony Hopkins is Hannibal! i just cant appreciate anyone else in that role because Hopkins made it his own.
and the guy who plays Will Graham i find fucking irritating as hell, just over dramatic and unrealistic, overly emotional...i just couldn't get into it.

only series i really enjoyed was the Wire, realistic and nothing exaggerated about it.

but Hannibal books and films were awesome, just a great character!

Dollarhyde is an interesting character!
found it funny in the movie though that they kept describing him as a bodybuilder and strong/well built but then you had Ralph Fiennes playing him!
his acting was good though, nice touch with the cleft palate.

They're calling it the Red Dragon Mini-Series, so basically around episode 6 they're jumping right into the Red Dragon and going to spend time showing you why he is that way which is cool since movies don't have the time or luxury to do so.  The GoT director is doing the first episode and they are running the story for 4 total I believe.

definitely will be watching that, you know who's playing Dollarhyde?
they should have Thomas Harris consulting on who to cast, but thrones director will def do well with this i think.

It starts Episode 8 - The Great Red Dragon
Then ends Episode 12.

Episode 13-The Wrath of the Lamb,  sounds insane but too bad they'll never jump into the story

Richard Armitage is playing Dollarhyde.  Some british actor who was in the Hobbit and Captain America.

Good show. Creative syntheses of the books and films. I'd kill for Lecter's (Mikkelsen) wardrobe and office!

Would you eat them afterwards?  Funny you mention his wardrobe.  he had this black shirt on the past episode and I was just thinking how I want to find one like it.

I watched some Hannibal episodes with an ex-girlfriend. However, we often interrupted the show to fuck and drink red wine instead.

Haven't gotten around to watching it yet.  Have been putting it off because I didn't know if it was any good or not.

Just got caught up on the GoT series.  Have gotten the Flash and American Horror Story Freak Show on my list next.

Got a ton more in the bin, but not sure if I will watch any.  Hate to waste several hours watching the first 3-4 episodes of a show and then determining it was/is crap.

Daredevil, Sons of Arachany (sp), Wire, Empire, Boardwalk, etc...   no idea if I should invest the time in watching them.
