By JULIE BYKOWICZ

WASHINGTON (AP) — Ted Cruz's presidential campaign has raised more than $14 million since the Texas senator launched his bid for the Republican presidential nomination just over three months ago, his campaign said Sunday.

The money comes from more than 120,000 donors who made an average contribution of $81.

Presidential candidates are required to report detailed fundraising figures though the end of June to the Federal Election Commission by mid-July, but Cruz is among a handful of contenders who have announced overall totals ahead of the disclosure date.

Republican Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon and political novice, will report having raised $8.3 million for his presidential candidacy, his campaign said on Wednesday. On the Democratic side, front runner Hillary Rodham Clinton will report having raised $45 million.

CRUZ: TRUMP’S BOLD FOCUS ON IMMIGRATION EXPOSES GOP ‘WASHINGTON CARTEL’ ATTITUDE

Sunday on “Meet the Press,” Republican presidential candidate Sen. Sen. Ted Cruz said Donald Trumps comments about Mexico sending it’s criminals to the Untied States were “bold” and “brash,” but put a needed focus on the many Republicans who support the Chamber of Commerce and Wall Street’s cheap labor immigration push.

“I am a passionate advocate for legal immigrants,” Cruz said. “I am the son of an immigrant who came legally from Cuba and I’ll tell you, from the day I started campaigning I traveled the state of Texas talking about how all of us, we are the children of those who risks everything for freedom, that immigrant experience of all of us is what makes us Americans, because we value in our DNA liberty and opportunity above all else. Now when it comes to Donald Trump, I like Donald Trump. he’s bold, he’s brash. And I get it that it seems the favorite sport of the Washington media is to encourage some Republicans to attack other Republicans. I ain’t going to do it. I’m not interested in Republican on Republican violence.”

“I salute Donald Trump for focusing on the need to address illegal immigration,” he continued. “The Washington cartel doesn’t want to address that. The Washington cartel doesn’t believe we need to secure the borders. The Washington cartel supports amnesty. I think amnesty is wrong and I salute Donald Trump for focusing on it. He has a colorful way of speaking. It is not the way I speak. But I’m not going to engage in the media game of throwing attacks at other Republicans. I’m just not going to do it.”

“And here’s the sad truth, a lot of Republicans of the Washington cartel, they’re all for amnesty, too. because from the perspective of the Chamber of Commerce and Wall Street, it’s cheap labor,” Cruz added.

Cruz lost weight, got a haircut, and did the little bit of "just a touch" of gray added.   He's listening to getbiggers who advised that.

Jindal tanned and rested.

Christie looking a little more "svelt".

It seems everyone is pursuing the health look these days.

I wonder what Bernie Sanders is currently T-bar rowing?

that ECA stack will make them irratable on the campaign trail.   Shaking hands and giving speeches in the Florida and carolina summer for 14 horus a day, they'll be dropping some C-bombs or F-bombs along the way.

all the money in the world won't change the fact that he's political poison

Ron Paul raised a pile of money and was a much more likable and with more appeal to the center and he couldn't do shit on a national stage

The party openly campaigned against Ron Paul.  Looking back, the deniers can admit it now.  Hannity, levin, Rush, they mocked Paul as a wingnut daily, and the assclowns on getbig that cheerlead everything repub followed suit.  When you have former clinton voters, loving on Mitt ROmney, telling us Ron Paul sucks, you know theyre brainwashed lol.

Anyway, check it out Straw... repubs have been getting beat a lot... but they domainate when they win over WOMEN voters.  And they have only won the women vote a few times in recent years - 80, 84, 88, 2000 and 2010.  Each of those times, the name on the ticket was perceived as a very CONSERVATIVE person *or persons, as in 2010.

This motivates the base, the women repub base, that didn't bother voting mccain or romney or bush 2004 or Bush 88.

IF Cruz stays conservative, these base women voters will come out - and he will win the election.  However, a moderate candidate (like we saw in 2012 and 2008) will grab a few swing undecideds, while alienating the entire base, and while their men will still vote cause they hate liberals, many of the women there just don't bother.  They'd rather lose and suffer for 4 years, then maybe run a REAL conservative.

There you have it.  I said this in 2008, and in 2012 also.  The GOP runs a conservative candidate, and they win this election.  They run some limp-dick moderate RINO that can "appeal to everyone" and they lose women, and they lose the election.  Already, Hilary will grab some idiots who only vote gender, so the task will be difficult already.  They choose a Jeb or CHristie, who don't stand for much other than "i'm not all-the-way like Hilary", then they will lose.

Straw, I think you support the Dem in 2016, generally speaking?  if that is the case (and I apologize if i'm mischaracterizing it), I think you would want Jeb/Christie doing their thing.

Cruz is despised by the Republican establishment and I would LOVE IT if Cruz were the candidate.  I think I've said that at least a few times now on this board

establishment loves the boehnners and mitts that play ball.  they screwed ron paul out of a nice moment at the convention.  we agree they hate on cruz cause he will cut their $.  But the establishment does accept when things are inevitable.  Inevitably, a true conservative will have to emerge from the mess and win a nomination.  maybe 2016, maybe 2020, maybe beyond.  it'll have to happen eventually.  I know, they seem to want to lose by choosing the RINos.  but Bush was a conservative in 2000.   So yes, every decade or so, they pick a weiner.

they hate Cruz because he doesn't carry the party water (kind of hard to get the party behind you when you actively fight against them) and because of the Government Shutdown.

The Billionaires who are going to pick the Republican candidate do not want Cruz

youre probably right.  It'll be Jeb getting their love/donations/FOX coverage as the serious contender, and Cruz being labeled as a guy with great ideas we can learn from.  As always.

Jeb won't motivate the base, they'll lose.  Maybe by 2020, they'll realize the base won't support a RINO.
