Another thing I called that night, as police purposely marched slowly to "stop" the rioters.  It was so obvious.

The police were purposely restrained.  This allowed rioters to act the fool on national TV.  Done for PR purposes.

Baltimore police officers were ordered by their commissioner to allow rioters the space to destroy and loot property during a spate of unrest in the city following the death in custody of 25 year-old Freddie Gray in April, according to a partisan review by the city’s powerful police union.

On Wednesday, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge Three published its scathing assessment (pdf) of police and city management during the unrest, which left 19 buildings and 144 vehicles burned, concluding the rioting was “without question, preventable” and argued police commanders “failed to meet professional standards on all levels”.

“As a result, chaos and lawlessness ensued,” the report states.

The observations prompted immediate criticism from Baltimore’s mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who accused the union of relying on “baseless and false information” to reach its conclusions.

LMAO  exactly.

She said what she meant.  They blocked off that area and surrendered it because the TV footage of them wrecking the place will get them funding, pity, and quite possibly, get that mayor re-elected if 50% of her constituents support the rioting idiots.

I love it when it's a conspiracy theory when police DID this in Ferguson, but normal everyday Obama-Alinsky tactics when someone with a (D) next to her name does it  ;)

This is precisely what they did in Ferguson - they let it rage intentionally to get public support behind them, even if it meant allowing danger to continue and risk more lives.  You can't say, in this day and age with communications and logistics, they coudln't stop a crowd that small, in a really centralized area.   Sorry, they let it happen.

didn't the mayor say something about giving the bad guys a place/time to destroy stuff?

very odd.   appeasing the rioters.   getting public support on her side by not squashing the problem quickly.  those police sure did move slow.

Anytime a person goes on national TV and says we will "give those who wished to destroy space to do that", it clearly tells everyone their motivation wasn't public safety - it was public perception and their own political agendas.  Shameful.
