Seriously, that is a good way to keep people from stealing your shit.
a lot of my tools are spray painted because I used to work in car shop in high school. Craftsman last forever.  :)

Nah, dude I worked with used to paint his tools w/ a blue marking on them, for (in his mind) that same reason.
I would hide them on him, when he came in, couldnt find them, I would say "I guess someone stole them, your paint aint working).

I still have a few of his blue painted tools 25 years later...
