No athlete in any sport is immune from father time, nor do they keep the same regimine of training, eating...and yes, even drugs.  There is no good reason to carry around 300 lbs if you're not competing, or eating 8 meals a day, or throwing around ridiculous weights in the gym.

Much like I dont carry the size I used to, train 3-4 times a week at best, or consume the calories of a competitor...cardio and maintainence have moved up on the depth chart...add to the fact that many have families to support and have moved their priorities into that direction...

Is that true about Art using other substances?  If so, it makes sense.  Something had to give.  I wonder to what extent he used cocaine, if that is true.  Also, if he smoked or mainlined it.  I have known people to consume a lot of it, and it makes me wonder how long they have to live.  They are seemingly healthy now, but still quite young.

By wondering it makes you sound clueless...These guys are holding anywhere from 5 years to life in prison amount of drugs in their households at all time...Depending on whether they're a user or a seller...Not to mention the fact that a big thing in the late 70's and early 80's was using cocaine as a pre workout. These people are criminals, sometimes sophisticated criminals..But criminals nonetheless... Pinning things all day in schedule... Self blooding themselves... Lying to the publci...They're grown ass men..And if you can't put it past them to do some recreational drugs then you've got to be the most delusional human being ever

In Art's case it was also "rec" drugs. Dude was on everything. He was dealing in the parking lot of 24 hour fitness from the back of his Toyota Tundra. Hence how he got caught with a lab in his house and told on everyone is how he got off easy. It's too bad cause he was always a nice guy whenever I ran into him. No surprise when I heard he had died, guy was like most bbers, but he hustled harder and was always finding ways to make money

I remember watching the BFTO 2003 and thinking that Art must have some amazing genetics to be able to be so huge and still be healthy.  I guess he never was healthy, if he had such a massive heart attack at a young age.  It just makes me think that life is altogether too short - and tells me definitely not to take risks at that level.
